I believe there has been no driver (specifically the driver) change since the 2016 retooling. Of course we've been through at least 3 different pad revs since then, and the best one I heard in my time listening to examples of various Audeze LCDs remains the pre memory foam revision.

I believe one of the design goals of the new pads was not just to fix the FR back to what it was before the memory foam pads but also to improve seal so that makes sense.

Sennheiser has already confirmed that this is a 560S with another cable and colorway on Twitter. It's unfortunate they needed to be pressed to give a response on this, but still better than in the past when the 558 vs 598 were "found out" through community teardowns only.

I also played around with EQ on it more recently and did some detailed sine sweeping work on my own head. To me it sounds like there is indeed a dip centered around 4.3k, and two peaks following that just past 5k and one near 7k. Somehow I used to think that the center of ear gain around 3.5k...

We should be able to find out visually if their VST version of Reveal+ still works with EqualizerAPO. You can import it and view the resulting curve applied in the configuration editor.

Thanks. I actually have both the original Aeolus pads and the Universe perf leathers, but never compared their physical dimensions in detail myself. I think Zach also said the foam inside is different between them.

Audeze has said elsewhere on the forum that the 2021 revision (really ~Nov 2020+ apparently) pads are indeed much closer in tuning to the pre-memory foam pads, especially for the upper midrange, which was essentially absent with the memory foam version. If you have the pre-memory foam version...

To my knowledge there is only one pad revision that is memory foam, and that's the one that ruined the FR of every Audeze it touched. To this day I have not found any information about exactly when this pad revision began, but it existed at least as far back as mid-2018 when my LCD-2 was made...

Historically the genuine leathers should deteriorate much slower. For me the leather is more comfortable since I prefer that material over pleather. At least on Fazor models, there is also a probability of the pleather version touching the ears though. I have not back to back compared pleather...

This has been my experience so far. I didn't understand the issues with ears touching fazors with 2021 pads until I got a pleather 2021 LCD-X loaner. My 2018 LCD-2F with genuine leather 2021 pads does not touch.

Yeah swapped to the new ones on my 2018 LCD-2F with a similar result. The ~6k peak and air above 10k remain overly hot but also by only a couple dB but the upper mids are much closer to where they should be, like on the pre memory foam pad rev.

Yes. I used the stock tips to do my initial EQ and they are quite a short tip. Tried my significantly longer SpinFits but it felt like they robbed some of the air above 10k. 5-7k is a pretty common IEM resonance but absolutely changes based on insertion depth which itself is affected by the tip...

Dekoni does measure their pads for certain models, and LCD-2 (for example with the LCD pads they offer) appears to be one of those models. I'm not sure which stock LCD-2 revision they are comparing to, but it's probably a pre-memory foam genuine leather pad version if I had guess. I'd be nice...

The graphs Jude posts are uncompensated raws. Ear gain peaking around 3k is expected due to the pinna shape on the HATS. These graphs are best interpreted with another headphone FR overlaid that many are familiar with like the 650, which has been provided already. And like @KMann says, trust...

EqualizerAPO and the optional Peace GUI for it are free for Windows. Last I checked Audeze Reveal is also free. It's the addon package that does room and HRTF simulation that costs you.
