If you are going to cut the acrylic, you would need to choose the appropriate cutting tool. Anything above 5mm would need a scroll saw. If you are using thinner sheets, you can use a frame saw to cut out the intended design. Go slow, too harsh/forceful may crack the acrylic. For smoothing...

Thanks Darknet for your heads up. Posted in the DIY headphone stand thread too.    Well the acrylic is not that expensive. But I have quite a bit of powertools to help me sand down the edges and polish shine.    Hope you liked it :)

    Hi guys,    This is my first headphone stand that I have fabricated using 8mm Acrylic and all edges have been polished to a shine. Really like the X1 while it's on the stand 

  Something that I made to keep my new X1 in good shape. I fabricated it myself using 8mm Acrylic. 

Paired it with media bridge and it bass is sounding better compared with stock (subjective evaluation as my ears as not as well trained as some of the more experienced people me :) Even paired with Astro Mixamp 5.8 is good. I am only testing it for less that 2hrs. Have not tested extensive yet...

I am no expert in this perhaps I will experiment with both setup. Worst case scenario I will get an O2 objective to pair with my ZX

Took Mad Lust Envy's advice and took the plunge ordered from Amazon X1. I think i will only get them in like 10 days needing to forward them out from the US.    My question is how would the sound quality compare using a DAC (ie E17 with out without E9) vs mixamp 5.8 using the X1?
