Satellite & Kern TP1 v Beyer
Has anything changed besides the storage box? Is one preferable to the other? They were my dream can back in the day and I may actually be able to afford a pair now. (As long as I buy used! Lol)- BigCabDaddy

Does PC make a difference for ripping?
I inherited an older, probably cheap to start with, Celeron base PC. It does have a DVD player however. Does the PC used for ripping CDs make any difference?- BigCabDaddy

AKG K553 good successor to ATH ESW9?
Hi all. Been a long time since I've been active here or actively involved in the hobby. I find myself in pretty immediate need for an over ear alternative to my go to travel pair of ATH ESW9. I'm eyeing the Massdrop (in itself a new concept to me) AKG K553? My at home pair are ATH AD900x so that...- BigCabDaddy

What should I be looking for?
Thanks for the input. What about the Brainwavz HM5? I just ran across them. They seem to have glowing reviews and would be MUCH cheaper.- BigCabDaddy

What should I be looking for?
First of all, let me start with an apology before things get snarky. Though I love this forum, I've become inactive because I simply don't have pockets deep enough to participate at the "hi-fi" level I'd like. I'm decidedly relegated to "mid-fi" by forum standards and even that's a stretch...- BigCabDaddy

Is HeadAmp still in business?
Thanks. That's why I waited a couple weeks. I realize they are a small company, but still. I'll try again and if no answer, I'll move on -- to a different companiy's product obviously.- BigCabDaddy

Is HeadAmp still in business?
The reason I ask is I've been trying to get ahold of them for a couple weeks now and I'm having no luck getting them to return my phone calls or emails. All I'm wanting is a replacement power supply/charger for my Pico amp/DAC. I managed to lose the one that came with it. Can anyone with more...- BigCabDaddy

Older Lexicon Omega Drivers?
I know this is a reach, but after a morning of trying, I give up. I had my Lexicon Omega running great through JRiver running a wasapi driver. Then my hard drive crashed and when the laptop came back from Asus came back, I of course had to set everything up again. Well the new driver (2.7) has...- BigCabDaddy

MOG alternative
So awhile back I came to all of you for a high quality streaming service and you all put me onto Mog. It's been a solid suggestion. I'm not overly thrilled with the interface and occasionally I do get into crappy enough wifi that the streams cut in and out, but that's the cost for higher quality...- BigCabDaddy

Zune LOD
What I see is the charging/syncing cable and I have one of those coming. What I meant was one that bypasses preamp and/or dac. Are you seeing those? What are you searching for?- BigCabDaddy

Anyone know if this Zune LOD is still available? Is it a worthwhile improvement? I just discovered I still have my Zune 120 which I thought was long gone.- BigCabDaddy

[REVIEW/COMPARISON] ATH-AD900X vs ATH-AD1000X vs MDR-MA900 - It's STILL over 900!!!!
Quote: Q and K are the same right? If so, I found the treble of the K701 "grainy" and "unrefined" compared to the AD900X in a recent meetup.- BigCabDaddy

[REVIEW/COMPARISON] ATH-AD900X vs ATH-AD1000X vs MDR-MA900 - It's STILL over 900!!!!
I think you're over thinking. ;) If the genres you post are your go to ones, seems like the MA900 easily wins out over my beloved AD900X. From what I know them, the Philips would be a step further away on the treble end, wouldn't they? Bottom line is you can't get one hp that does it all. From...- BigCabDaddy

Battle Of The Flagships (58 Headphones Compared)
Quote: I'm really happy with my AD900X but we had a local meet up just last weekend where I discovered the T1 does what my 900X does but much better. Wish I'd have tried the HE6 while there too because now I'm hearing they have a similar sound signature. Plus, since I power with old...- BigCabDaddy

Denver 2013 Impression Thread
Can't say I disagree with you. I suspect what we see here is about musical choices as much as anything as I favor acoustically based music and you evidently, electronic. I wish I'd listened to your styles of music more to reference what you're saying. For my music and ear, the 1840 and the T1... -

Denver 2013 Impression Thread
Another meet-up noob checking in. Right off, I want to thank ASR/Steve. His selflessness in organizing this sort of happening is invaluable to the community. Likewise, I'd like to thank both the venders present and those that sent demo units. I know there was at least one piece of equipment at... -
