The shure is great sounding but a little more in your head soundstage

I just purchased a set of the AKR01 and what surprised me was the huge soundstage much better than my Shure 535, when used with my AK 120 I am very pleased with the sound although the 535 are more comfortable for long sessions and offer a bit deeper bass response

I agree, I roll tubes sometimes just to get a different flavor out of the amp or to match the sound output to different cans, great hobby and thats why tubes can be enjoyable

If you find one you like and it makes your phones sound good stick with it.  I'm likely to go back to my trusty 1975 Voskhod rocket 6H23. It is fun to pull out some of the other tubes and have a listen but generally I end up going back to the old stock reflector or Voskhod 6h23's
