Bowers & Wilkins PX7 noise-cancelling over ear headphones

Does anyone have bluetooth issues when using the headphones in really crowded areas? The audio keeps cutting/chopping. Never experienced this with the older PXs.

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

Hey guys, I bought my PXs in November and they've been working great so far. However last night I was listening to them (using 3.5mm as I normally do at home) when the right ear started cutting out. It sort of phased in an out for 5-6 seconds and then went silent. I've tried resetting using the...

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

I get a ridiculous amount of static noise when I have connected the USB and the 3.5mm both to the laptop (USB for charging and 3.5mm for audio), it's really loud and it happens even when the laptop is not plugged into the mains. So while charging the only option I have is to switch to the USB...

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

The "tube" effect sound was much more pronounced when switching from P7 to PX. I have now packed up my P7s so can't do a direct side by side comparison but I would say it's probably a bit of both brain burn in and driver burn in.

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

I think I was referring to the same type of sound. Maybe I was just spoiled by the P7's sound, maybe the headphones have worn in or maybe I have just gotten used to them now, but I am quite enjoying what the PX sounds like now.

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

That's weird. Everything seems to be working on mine. Did you try a hard reset?

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

When I updated my firmware, I got a message saying it failed and to use the USB tool, after the update progress bar reached the end. I simply restarted the app and then it said "update successful" along with the new 1.062 version. So I assume the update happened and that failure message was just...

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

It controls my PC volume when connected via USB but other than that the volume controls in bluetooth mode seem to be internal to the headphone.

How long did the firmware update take on Android?

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

I figured after 2 minutes of silence it would turn off. Guess it only works on bluetooth mode as I confirmed today. Thanks, must remember to turn it off myself when using it wired at home!

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

When using in wired only mode with ANC and wear sensor off, shouldn't the headphones automatically power off after I stop listening to anything? I leave the cable in the headphones but remove it from the source. However I notice the blue light flashing continues indefinitely until I power them...

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

I guess I'm using the wrong word. The weight is there but it just seems like there is some emphasis around the mids. Like imagine your voice talking through a tube. It has that kinda resonance.

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

I'm comparing them to my previous P7s which are also closed. Same source, which is my laptop via 3.5mm cable, listening to FLACs or at least 320k mp3s. By boxy I just mean it sort of has this hollowish sound. Maybe it's just the different sound signature?

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

Is it just me or do the PXs sound a little "boxy"? This is after 20 hours of pink noise as well as about 5 days of music listening for a couple of hours each day.

Has anyone tried using these in USB mode on their PC? The sound works fine but the mic doesn't detect any sound in Windows.

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

I decided to take the leap and get a set of these. Still haven't used them much but I noticed that the difference in volume between using wireless and wired is immense. The wireless mode doesn't go quite loud enough on max, while on wired it is deafeningly loud even at 50%. Is this normal behaviour?

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

Quick question ... do these headphones automatically power off after a period of inactivity if the proximity sensor has been disabled?

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

Haha I wish, it's a little out of my budget. Might have tried to stretch it if they had it in black!

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

Just a personal choice tbh. And I love the B&W sound quality/signature, and the build quality/design.

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

I'll be using it wired 99.9% of the time so relying on the phones themselves for the battery levels. Also it seems the band on the PX looks more durable than the P7 design.

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

Hmm, thanks. I am unlikely to get an amp. By worn I mean not only the pads but the band itself is really loose now. I've tried to squeeze it back but it just goes back to its loose state as soon as I wear it. So it doesn't form a nice seal anymore, compromising the bass and sound isolation. I'm...

Thanks for the helpful information. I guess this would further support my inclination towards going with P7W instead of the PX.

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

From what I've read, the sound quality in the P7W has been improved a lot over the original P7, and upgraded drivers.

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

Aww, that's a shame. I'm going to be using them wired almost all of the time. My main reason for soncidering them was to upgrade my worn out P7 wireds. Might just get the P7 Wireless instead.
