They block noise with or without music playing. As for plane noise, you would have to look at the frequency chart for that. Most headphones don't block noise that low very well, but with music, it would be better.

I notice the sound becomes muffled if the headphones shifts on one ear or the other. I notice it most if I am laying down with them on. If I stop moving then it evens out, and I don't notice it while sitting or standing.

  Sure. I've had this for four days now. I had it in a felt pocket with a usb cable otherwise it hasn't rubbed up against anything potentially hard. Those marks are not possible from a USB cable, and if it had been that you would see the bare metal not the coating you see over those marks.

I don't know how they do it, but I love it. I don't think there is another headphone out there that could beat the TH900 at what it does. My favorite genre is electronic music, especially EDM and it blows everything else out of the water.

To my ears, TH900 > Elear > EL-8C   The TH900 has the instrumentation further away than the Elear, so in some ways the Elear is easier to hear the placing of instruments, but I like the presentation of the TH900.

Electronic music is my main genre so the TH900 is great for that. I did buy the Elear and they are really great too for just about everything else. They aren't bad for EDM, but they aren't as fun as the TH900s.
