Just found something interesting on another forum      

Its set to 5.1 now which improves the sound a lot. If i set it to Stereo it just loses most of the bass.   Same problem as this guy is having. A lot of people agree with him also and say the external soundcard is the way to go.

Dont get me wrong its not exactly a 10" sub or anything.  Have a look here in the gallery and see what i mean. Its just ever so slightly better than not having it but still better.   Problem is definitely the card all right and ive since found out that the quality is above average when used...

Yeah its plugged in and it makes no difference. Ive come to the conclusion that its useless and will probably invest in a Fiio E17.

Having both phones i can say the Galaxy is far beyond the 4S. Definitely the best sounding phone ive ever owned.   iPhone is loud. Galaxy is High Quality.   Do not buy an iPhone if sound quality matters. Seriously.   I have the Quad Core European version.
