Well, it's definitely bigger than the driver in an IEM or earbud. LOL
 
But certainly such a gimmicky marketing ploy, that I'm not surprised that you are having problems with the headphone output. If that audio setup on the machine were that good, they wouldn't have to try to sell people on the misleading idea that there is a useable subwoofer on the bottom of the laptop.

The least problem in computer audio is, believe me if you want, seldom the DAC/soundcard.
 
 
Most of the computers out there aren't very well designed and have a lot of EMI (electromagnetic interference) inside of them and even reaching the headphone connector.
 
Normaly desktop computers are very prone as they have an internal PSU, and worse yet, a PSU that doesn't filter very well the output from interferences.
 
 
 
You can solve the problem buying an external soundcard (marketed as "DAC's") that are magneticaly isolated (inside a metal box) and solve the problem.

Indeed. EMI can be quite an issue, since virtually all motherboard manufacturers do terrible PCB tracing, PSUs are also part of the problem, and people either need to get shielded (internal) cards or external DACs.
 
Trancecommunity, what are your listening habits? Music, games, movies? And do you use the laptop's internal speakers, headphones, external speakers?

I watch a couple of hours of lectures a day for college.
 
I then listen to music and watch movies. 
 
Would the lower end fiio DACs be any good or should i save for an E7?
 
Wouldnt have lots of cash but if they are really bad i suppose i could save for a better DAC
