can headphones ruin my hair (serious question)
Yes, it is very dangerous <D However as all problem it can be solved, I just happened to have special audiophile shampoo and hair gel which will protect your hair from cruel effects of headband usage and also improves sonic performance. After using this combo surely soundstage timbre and realism...- Lumos

Shure SRH840 vs Audio Technica ATH M50
M50 have more bass but Shure 840 have more natural bass (not lacking at all) Shure's soundstage is little better. Shure has little upfront sound detailed vocals and on your face, Audio-technica is little warmer side. For my music I prefer Shure but keeping both.- Lumos

HD558- Frequency V/S Imedance Curve
Yes absolutely sure, I have listened and owned all of them besides HD800 and I can tell you all of them have bass distortion problem. Including HD700. there are people who like this effect because it reminds old days and tube amps and there are some songs which are nice to listen with these. For...- Lumos

HD558- Frequency V/S Imedance Curve
It means that HD558 driver is not accurately damped and you will hear some resonances. see more here: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/comparison-beyerdynamic-dt-880-32-ohm-dt-880-250-ohm-and-dt-880-600-ohm-headphones http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/how-headphone-dynamic-drivers-work- Lumos

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
Depends what you seeking quantity or quality? in terms of quality HD650 is not shining already, so I guess HE400i would be better. I will receive them soon I hope and will comment further cheers- Lumos

And M40x on sale, go for them? Or save and wait
I personally prefer Shure SRH940 over M50 (not X) and many more headphones, research about Shure SRH840 since it is more bassy but for $70 M40X would be fine Cheers- Lumos

I will also write a review, using mainly ODAC O2 or Schiit Modi, Audioquest dragonfly. Lets see how they compare HD580, AKG Q701 and Beyer DT880.- Lumos

HIFIMAN HE-400i touring event is coming.
Very interested to try new Hifiman He400i, never had planer magnetic headphone, just briefly listened HE400. I was impressed by bass performance however they seemed to be brighter side. Since I heard HE400i shares same planer magnetic technology with its resolution speed and articulation...- Lumos

After hours of research, I still can't find something that I like. Help, please?
I believe if you can afford you better go in HE560 route otherwise wait for HE400i I would avoid old HE400 due to high harmonic distortion problem better buy would be DT880 or Q701/K712 cheers- Lumos

After hours of research, I still can't find something that I like. Help, please?
Grados-no way !!! bass distortion and roll of, plus non linear harmonic distortion... on ear, comfort issue to many to list hence not recommended!!! If open back is must: DT880 600 (ohm) buy O2 Odac (if you want absolute clear bass) or Modi dac, avoid Magni good amp but bass is slightly...- Lumos

Upgrade from HD558's
That is a good choice while HD600 have better tonal balance Q701 have tighter bass and more resolution all over the spectrum. when EQ ed Q701 provides more hi-resolution sound. I recommend O2 over Magni I had both, Magni has somewhat blurry bass. cheers- Lumos

What "house sound" annoys you the most?
Yeah quality and quantity is different things. Just play any well recorded music (classical, jazz) and you will hear clear difference in quality. Yes I do agree partially, AKG is little bass light. not good for electronic music cheers- Lumos

What "house sound" annoys you the most?
I mean compared to AKG Q701 and Beyer DT800 (600ohm) Senns have blurry bass, I was driving them with O2 or Magni with Modi DAC. However both Bayer and AKG have their issues. Besides uncomfortable headband (can be fixed) and famous 2K spike of Q701 (which could be solved by eqing) I believe Q701...- Lumos

Need some closed full size heaphone help
NAD Viso HP50 is your best bet. Others could be Focal spirit one, and Shure1540, go to www.innerfidelity.com and read reviews. If you need on ear Sennheiser HD25 1 II is great but fit sometimes is a problem, you should find sweet spot. If you want cheaper go to Audio Technica M50X or M40X...- Lumos
