AKG k702 VS Sennheiser HD650: which would work better for my taste?

It depends on the size and shape of head, the bumps don't annoy me unless i'm wearing them for more than 2 albums worth of time.

Quote: I think I can help, I have the same equipment as you so its nice to speak to a fellow NJC Audio owner (I thought I was all alone here, it seems most owners keep quiet as its like the best kept secret in the audio world, shhhh!), I also use the NJC Monitor II amp with their...

NJC Audio Monitor II headphone amp & 24 bit reference DAC in depth review   Disclaimer, there is a lot of text below since everytime I thought of something else or something I found really good I added it to my small review which grew & grew, but it seemed a shame to trim it down & it's also...

Which Amps to Consider for Grado SR-325i ?

I thought they sounded ok with the Burson amp, but I could not listen to them for more than an hour without becoming fatigued, I would like to try them again on my new gear but I have so many other headphones I want first

    finding an amp for HD650.

Ah so that's what that is, thanks.   Hope you find what you are looking for, I am starting to believe that the HD650's really want more & more power, I thought they were good on the Burson but better on the latest amp I have which has something like 6 watts output, so look for an amp that...

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

I just noticed this thread, while i'm not new to the HD650's as I used to have a pair a while ago I have since got another pair & with a whole lot of new gear to go with them.   I think the HD650's are one hell of a headphone once you get the right amp, I can listen to them for hours & hours...

Solid state that can feed 3~5 watts into a low impedance headphone?

Another headphone amp that has the kind of power you are looking for without having to resort to some kind of speaker amp or reciever is the headphone amp I use, the maker is called NJC Audio & the actual amp is called a monitor II, its a solid state type amp which is hand made in the UK, i'm...

Starting again, (first impressions) HD650 with the NJC Monitor II amp & DAC

I am now getting back into the HiFi world after having to sell all my equipment for financial reasons which I will spare you the boring details, but here is my story on my quest to rebuild my entire system from scratch.   Just in case you are interested my original system consisted of the...

Do "I" really need a headphone amp?

I have the HD650 too, some people use them on sound cards & ipods, but I have found like many they sound best when you give them a proper amping, but that costs money.

Why don't more headphones have replaceable cables?

Quote: The Beyerdynamic DT100 have a detachable cable, ive heard of people using these for drumming in the past.

AKG K702 sound degradation from plug + internal wiring?

I think your right, the human ear can be better than any measuring equipment, but I think it can also be led by the brain, thinking of differences that arnt actually there, your brain can be a powerful thing, are you really hearing a difference or thinking you are.

Why don't more headphones have replaceable cables?

Quote: Yes for the price they cost it would have been nice having a mini XLR or similar, of course we could retro fit something but who in their right mind wants to mess around with a brand new pair of T1's, thats something you would do on a pair of HD201's, not headphones of this...

    Needing guidance with Sennheiser

Thats the trouble with discounts based on "retail" pricing, the suggested retail price is usually far higher than any street price.

    Beyerdynamic DT880 *closed-back*

Quote: When I listened to the Beyer DT880 & T1's I got the same impression, as if the T1 was merely a better DT880, worth the extra price though? well not quite sure, probably not.

I'm stuck deciding on a new pair of headphones. HELP!

Couldnt agree more with the above post, im ashamed to say I happen to be one of those "picky" types that strive to get that extra 1%

    Needing guidance with Sennheiser

I personally wouldnt pay much for the 598's but thats because I am not that fond of them, but if you can get them cheap enough they certainly would have no problems with comfort, I wear glasses & they were fine when I tried them, for gaming they would be more than enough.

Also take a look at the Audio Technica ATH-AD700 headphones, those are a gamers choice from what I hear, I had the chance to try them recently & while they are no match for better headphones they are good for the price & comfort is top notch.

    Needing guidance with Sennheiser

Have you also considered anything from Beyerdynamic rather than the Sennheiser ones listed? something perhaps like the Beyer DT770 as a lot of people use those with a PC, they have velour pads & are quite comfortable, or perhaps the Denon D2000 or the model below that if those are out of budget...
