    Well they're basically open phones, and the Beats are closed, so a ton more.

    You can use any regular speaker wire with them.  They're probably not good enough speakers to warrant better cables though... If you can get them for < $200 they're a great deal, especially solid for movies and games, maybe not quite as much for music.

    I am really interested in the DT880/600ohm as well, but I would like to hold off on buying an amp/DAC for a couple months if possible.   Will my old school (80s) stereo receiver have enough power to drive these at reasonable levels from the headphone jack?
