There are many saying they will be at the same price point.

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"

I quite like the piece. I really wanted something that would work perfectly in Linux and play DoP. I compared this DAC to many other pieces that cost an order of magnitude more and found that I couldn't hear enough of a difference to justify continued search for now.

Please help me with my survey (about storage)

Currently around 4T. If anyone else is approaching the 1T size I would seriously recommend checking out beets: http://beets.radbox.org/   Edit: That's 4T of music. It is mostly lossless and I've recently been converting SACDs over to DFF (now that mutagen has added support). I have a good...

Circumaural travel headphones (Alternatives to the PXC450)

I've been using PXC450 on and off for a long time, they are wonderful headphones. Recently I got one of the Geek Out 1000 and would really like to pair with a passive headphone system. I'm looking for something that can pack away like the PXC450, is circumaural and under the 500$ price point...

TEAC UD-501 on Linux with MPD

Quite a great piece of equipment!   If anyone else ran into the issue of hearing pops when changing dsf tracks, please see the discussion here:   http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f11-software/sacd_extract-dsf-output-problem-18114/

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"

TEAC UD-501 on Fedora 19 with MPD 0.17.3 works perfectly.   Their usb implementation is quite nice and is UAC2 compliant.   I think it might have been the commit in kernel 3.10.7 https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.x/ChangeLog-3.10.7

Actually should have posted an update long ago:   TEAC UD-501 on Fedora 19 with MPD 0.17.3 works perfectly.   I think it might have been the commit in kernel 3.10.7 https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.x/ChangeLog-3.10.7

    Computer to 12v trigger

Is anyone aware of a device that would allow me to signal via 12v from something like USB or RS232? I would also prefer to do this via linux, but I bet if there is a device available I can figure out how to make it send a signal.   I want to turn on and off the power outlets on my Furman...

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"

Personally I use MPD with all of these DACs and the TEAC and MSB had wonderful support in linux. I think the MSB is something you just have to hear. I'm glad you're able to spend time with one and make comparisons. If you are looking optimize for cost in your system then the UD-501 seemed to be...

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"

My father has an MSB DAC IV and I was able to compare the UD-501 to it. I feel that although there is significant diminishing returns on something as costly as the DAC IV, there still is a difference that you have to decide overall if the financial cost is worth the perceived value.   I love...

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"

Trying it now on a Fedora 19 box (my laptop)... everything seems to work without issues. I'll listen for another 3 or 4 hours and hopefully not hear an issue.   I really would love to jump to the Benchmark or the Mytek but the TEAC is literally half their cost.

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"

Overall I'm not very happy though. I would like a consistent playback between songs. Frequently I'll be listening to 44khz content and want to hear a song that I only have in 88.2Khz. It sounds like everything is coming through a 100 foot pvc tube with an orchestra of farts playing at the same...

TEAC UD-501 on Linux with MPD

I wanted to report in on the TEAC UD-501. I just got this unit to test it out with Linux and MPD. I have been using MPD for years and really love the audio listening paradigm it supports. In short, this DAC seems to have some problems with USB and Linux. You can get it to play out of the...

    Bit Perfect Audio from Linux

Ibasso D7 sitting on my desk right now. best cheap XMOS based dac for the price that I have found. I'm very happy with it.   Does 24-bit/192Khz via USB on ALSA

    Bit Perfect Audio from Linux

The major reason I've not written how I set up MPD is because the documentation is actually quite good. Secondarily if you can learn how to use IRC, their channel usually has a couple people in it that know what they're talking about.    Instead of replicate that knowledge out here, we...

Beyerdynamic T70 or Sennheiser HD 650?

I'll be interested to hear what people say once a good listen has occurred. I may buy some off Amazon to do a side by side.   For me, I carry PXC 450 for travel and office and I listen to the 650 when I'm in my home office. I would prefer to carry a single set of headphones, however I'm not...

Beyerdynamic T70 or Sennheiser HD 650?

I'm really interested in hearing about someones opinion on this. I almost recently ordered a pair of DT880 600ohm because I love the beyerdynamic design. I would be very willing to sell my 650s if the T70s were similar.

Schiit, could not be more happy with this company and their products.

I have been listening to my Valhalla for a little while (just got it about 3 weeks ago) and noticing that one side will be predominant. I have swapped my tubes back and forth and noticed it goes away for a couple of days and returns. Figured I would email the guys over at Schiit because they...
