Many people like RB'd iPods because they have a better eq, crossfeed, and most importantly, they support FLAC.

I wonder how this product would be placed price wise. Between LCD2 and 3? Less than 2? More than 3?

Let's not forget that you can pair some external DACs with the S3 as well
