Denon AH-D9200 - 2018 Flagship - Impressions Thread
While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, Ithink part of the problem is often reviewers assume a headphone (or really, any product) needs to have some sort of fancy new technology or breakthrough. The D9200 simply achieve their sound through impeccable tuning and refinement.- Napilopez

FiiO FH5 - Quad Driver Hybrid In-Ear Monitors || Knowles Balanced Armature Drivers
I'm also not a believer of burn-in, particularly for BA IEMs of all things, but I do think there could be a strong psychological element to these IEMs. I've found many times moving from flat, bright or V-shaped IEMs to darker/warmer sounding ones require the most of an adjustment period. That's...- Napilopez

FA7, the first Quad drivers IEM from FiiO , all Knowles BAs and 3D printed technical , MMCX design
I agree with most of the above, although I think I like the sound signature a bit more than Brooko does. Normally that mid-bass lift is the worst thing an IEM can do for me, but I think there's still enough detail that it can be engaging with some genres. But yes, a few dB down would be better...- Napilopez

The Hifiman RE2000 - a high end dynamic IEM
Sure, I get that. I use Tidal Hi-Fi too, but I believe the ES100 + RE2000 over Bluetooth LDAC is better than the LGV40 wired when streaming lossless or MQA. I'm pretty sensitive to the difference between lossless and lossy as well as sample/bit-depth, but the source output is still more...- Napilopez

The Hifiman RE2000 - a high end dynamic IEM
I'd recommend the Radsone ES100. In Bluetooth mode it already drives the RE2000 better than the V40 does wired, but you can use it in USB mode too. I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference. It's my all-time favorite audio purchase that isn't a headphone. I think it drives IEMs as good as or...- Napilopez

The Hifiman RE2000 - a high end dynamic IEM
LG has some trouble with output on low-ish impedance headphones. The RE2000 are harder to drive than most IEMs. I suspect it doesn't really feed enough power to them, as it sticks to the lowest gain mode meant for easier to drive IEMs and earbuds. I found something similar with the V40. The...- Napilopez

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread
Arya - these have some of the best bass I've heard on any headphone. It hits super hard and gives a more speaker-like impact than pretty much any headphones I've tried because of the huge drivers and pads. Meanwhile the bass is IMO the worst part of the Elegia. The sub-bass is nice and very...- Napilopez

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread
Yep. If you need one of the monoprice's particular features, like the balanced output go for that. Dirac Sensaround is clearly better than ifis 3D+ on the Micro BL (it's better in later iFi devices like the xCan and xDSD). But the Micro BL can't be easily for versatility and power. I'm not one...- Napilopez

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread
Mine's a review unit, but I think it's a decent amp/DAC. The Arya are currently my hardest to drive headphones, and this drives them well, so that's good enough for me. Dirac Sensaround works well for making a soundstage more 3D without too much coloration, and the EQ is effective. Main cons...- Napilopez

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread
Yeah, I have the monolith. It's a solid amp, but not convinced it's an improvement over my iDSD Micro BL, which is just a much more practical amp all around. I do like dirac sensaround, but I wish there were a dedicated button for that and EQ.- Napilopez

FA7, the first Quad drivers IEM from FiiO , all Knowles BAs and 3D printed technical , MMCX design
Just some more measurements for good... umm, measure. Here's the RAW FR as measured on my MiniDSP Ears using the balanced tips. The usual disclaimer about the EARS not being industry-standard gear applies, with the upper treble being particularly contentious on iems. I wouldn't really count on...- Napilopez

FA7, the first Quad drivers IEM from FiiO , all Knowles BAs and 3D printed technical , MMCX design
Yeah, I agree with Currawong. It's very easy to get a seal with the FA7 in my experience, which might be why. Even the foamies don't affect the sound as much as I expected. I like the FH5, but after a few days, I still think the FA7 is a step above. Again, I think fiio's description of the...- Napilopez

I almost bought the element myself! Then I figured I'd end up using the bass boost on the iDSD... Which I do. A lot. It pretty much saves some open back headphones from disappointing bass roll-off. The Arya, however, does not need it at all.- Napilopez

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread
I don't see what you'd need more than your current setup. That said, I'm using the ifi iDSD Micro BL, which I've read performs better than the magni at high power (which the Arya likes). The 3D boost is also handy for adding a little more treble energy to the Arya, which I like, while the bass...- Napilopez

FA7, the first Quad drivers IEM from FiiO , all Knowles BAs and 3D printed technical , MMCX design
Not sure if the.P series will fit - it's smaller than the FH5, but certainly nowhere as thin as a Weston's or Shure. That said, I really doubt you'll have trouble on isolation with these. Maybe it's just a particularly good deal with my ears, but these are among the most isolating IEMs I've...- Napilopez

FA7, the first Quad drivers IEM from FiiO , all Knowles BAs and 3D printed technical , MMCX design
To give y'all an idea of the vast difference (and improvement) in fit for the FA7 vs FH5.... On the FH5, the medium tips tended to slip out, so I had to size up to large. On the FA7, deep insertion means medium works, but I actually think I prefer the fit with small tips. The differences a few...- Napilopez

Focal Elegia - what do you think?
I'm the one who wrote that review =] your descriptions covers the Elegia pretty well - except like I mentioned in the review, Focal's dynamics/transients keep it from being totally boring. Still, it's not quite as engaging as I'd like. I prefer the Z7M2 overall, but that one isn't quite as...- Napilopez

Vocals are great, pretty warm, nice and ever so slightly forward - not too close, not too far.. Have to do some comparisons for soundstage size as I've mostly been listening to full size cans the last few days, but at first glance it's bigger than the FH5, a bit smaller than the RE2000. Good...- Napilopez

I received mine today. Oh man. I'm going to hold off on real impressions until I've had more time, but at first glance I definitely prefer them to the FH5. And I like the FH5! But these are clearly more resolving, fit more easily, and isolate a lot more. Did not feel like it was an immediate...- Napilopez

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread
Yeah, I love the HD800S' soundstage and sheer resolution, but I think it's from an era when it was acceptable for headphones to roll-off in the sub-bass in the name of tight bass and big soundstages. Even worse if you go back to the HD600 familiy. I guess its fine if all you ever listen to is...- Napilopez
