Ray Samuels shadow amp needs service

What would anyone suggest as a replacement for the Shadow, an IEM amp Etymotics in particular?

Ray Samuels shadow amp needs service

I've given up on receiving a response from RSA, now searching for a replacement.

Ray Samuels shadow amp needs service

Thanks for posting. I've written emails to that address and have left phone messages at the phone number, all without a reply. I still have a bit of hope that he may contact me. I agree that he has made terrific product, and all of my previous contacts with RSA have been exemplary. Then again...

Ray Samuels shadow amp needs service

The website is still up and emails don't bounce. I'm just hoping the Ray is in good health. Having done considerable online research, I'm thinking that the state of the art has probably surpassed RSA. This being said, I've had years of enjoyment from my amps.

Ray Samuels shadow amp needs service

Battery pack is readily available. I did pull out the circuit board; battery pack seems soldered and replacement by me would be inadvisable as I can break anything.

Ray Samuels shadow amp needs service

My beloved Shadow is in need of service, probably a new battery. I've been unable to contact RSA. Does anyone have information about Ray, and has anyone self-replaced the battery? Thanks. Joel

[REVIEW] Etymotic HF5 or the ER-4S?

No product has given me more listening pleasure over the last 16 years or so than my Etys, 4P and 4S.  I've tried all other sorts of IEMs, but these are the ones that give me that "you are there sensation."  With the custom moulds for merely another $100 including the audiologist fee, they...

Enter to Win: Moshi Audio Clarus Earphones

For me, being 70 years old and with declining hearing:   isolation- allows me to block extraneous noise and concentrate on detail   clarity- that which makes a clarinet sound like a clarinet, and a flute like a flute   realism- that wow factor that I'm really there and that the...

Looking for a good alternative to the Shure SE530s, as mine have broken. Again.

Hello again,   I own the Senns and they have terrific sound.  However, they don't isolate very well in any sort of noisy environment.   The re-shells from Fisher Hearing isolate, have absolutely terrific sound and replaceable cables.  May I suggest that you look into just how much it...

Looking for a good alternative to the Shure SE530s, as mine have broken. Again.

Since you enjoy the sound signature of the Shures, why not consider having them reshelled custom?  I did this through Fisher Hearing for about $150 including the deep ear impressions made by an audiologist.   The earphones sound better than ever.   Joel

    Which version of Nessun Dorma?

Here ya go guys: Corelli YouTube - Nessun Dorma- Franco Corelli Bjorling YouTube - Nessun Dorma - Jussi Björling Lanza YouTube - "Nessun dorma" - Turandot - Mario Lanza One more, Richard Tucker http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPkb24cQCM8

    Which version of Nessun Dorma?

I can't believe that anything has surpassed the Nilsson, Corelli, Scotto recording. Pavarotti's basically lyric voice is quite light for the role, and Nilsson was in her absolute prime at the time of her recording. Also of interest is the historical, earlier recording with a young Birgit...

ER4P finally bit the dust -- what now?

I've got a drawer-full of IEMs. IMHO, nothing beats the Etys for accuracy. I keep going back to them. Sent them in and see what happens!

    Which version of Nessun Dorma?

Franco Corelli owned the role of Calaf. He was the real thing, a true operatic, dramatic/spinto tenor with movie star looks, charisma, and a voice of incredible power. That being said, don't overlook Mario Lanza.

ER4P finally bit the dust -- what now?

Since you love them, why not send them to Etymotic for repair? They tend to do this quite reasonably.

    Cosmic volume pot

    So, can anyone help?
  19. joelk

    Cosmic volume pot

This is a Headroom brand Cosmic Reference. When I opened the case, I discovered that the volume pot is Mexican made and may be socketed to the circuit board. I really need a way to install something of higher quality. Tyll, where are you?

    Cosmic volume pot

Has anyone modified their Cosmic to a better, more accurately tracking volume pot? I've had Headroom change this part, but it still will not track well with IEMs at low volume setting. I'm looking for a fix. Thanks. Joel

Found an old McIntosh amp *56k*

Paul of Bizzy Bee Audio is a champ with old Fisher gear, and even if he won't work on it could guide you someone who might. He's redone a Fisher 400 and 500 for me, and they sound quite wonderful and with enough power to drive almost anything. I think that you've found a real diamond in the...

    questions from an opera newbie

To hear the best voices, IMHO, one has to return to the last golden age of opera, the 50s and 60s and listen to the likes of Tucker, Bjorling, di Stefano, del Moncaco, Bergonzi and Corelli just for Italian style tenors. Among baritones there were Warren, Merrill, Bastianini and Gobbi. The...

I just had my wisdom teeth removed

Try to relax. So many of us have been through this and have survived. It is, after all, surgery and there's bound to be some discomfort. My wisdom teeth, 3 of them, came out after I was 50. I did have dry sockets and had to go back to the oral surgeon a couple of times to have have a...

    Calling all Stealth owners ...

Mr. Olsher was also infamous for taking any tube amp and deciding that he didn't like the factory supplied tubes. It wasn't until he tweaked the amp with his choice of tubes, that the amp became acceptable or reached its peak. I believe that one of the Manleys of VTL took him to task for...
