Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

Quote: Many times they use different sampling algorithms along with the upsampling/dithering etc aspects of it. I understand that you are wary, you probably root for NWavGuy in all his battles and talk down to cable and vinyl people.   But the truth is, there is a difference in these...

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!

Quote: The soundstage is excellent actually, if you have some paxmate and the 840 on there anyways. Otherwise it is not nearly as good. Acoustic foam really allows them to produce layered sound.

the problem with FLUKE is that it cannot support flac above 44.1khz,   to Austin: of course it will be double amping it, there is no way to stop this, but all the amping is done digitally (unless you have some op-amps in your soundcard, some do). There is nothing wrong with this, in fact...

the fostex has much more bass slam than the vast majority of electrostats, but the electros take the upper end by storm, also the speed and transparency of electros cannot be matched IMO.   the latest one, the 009 I believe, handily beats all other headphones IMO, but we are talking 6000 for...

very nice ray! glad to hear it! you really dont hear an "echo" so much as the highs are more noisy from the reflections, you will notice (once you get some acoustic foam in there) that the highs and mids are more crisp and clear, better separation, and a much better sense of space that is the...

    Audio-GD NFB-12

I took a look at the inside of mine and there is no way to change the filter, I am a little disappointed, but I knew it was a work in progress and still bought it, so yeah, annoying, but I cant fault kingwa.    does anyone know what the default filter is?    edit: 2x brickwall filter...

Quote:   I use the NFB12 and it provides more than enough power for these headphones and is very pleasant with them, however the amp section is not the most revealing. You can get a 250$ amp(only) that is better. I dont think you can get a 250$ amp/dac that has this much power that is...

Quote: If you go through the last 50 pages you will find 10+ possible mods requiring everything from the pubic hairs of a virgin (does not specify gender so I could supply that) to silverstone acoustic foam. I say the quickest, cheapest sounding mod would be shure 840 pads, plasticine, and...

This has been driven into the ground, but these headphones pretty much need an amp. You may be able to hear sound from your ipod/laptop/clip+ but the bass will be pitiful compared to what it is truly capable of. I refuse to listen to them without my amp, ever. I use my IEMs with anything else...

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

Ive found that some sort of bineaural mode or cross-feed is absolutely necessary for my older jazz, it was meant to be played with speakers, so I have the percussion on one side of my head and the trumpet on the opposite side, with no cross feed at all, perfectly 180 degrees from each other. It...

I found out about the clicks in integer mode, turns out my old comp send out a zero bit at certain intervals due to some power issue or something. need to get a powered usb hub if I want to use integer mode, and here I was blaming the tenor usb chip in the nfb12.

Is anyone else worried that fostex might wake up one day and decide to raise the prices on the t50rp ridiculously? Not change anything, just raise prices. I am hoping maybe they have some audio engineers working on these to bring out their potential or change the driver, but either way the...

I was thinking of building a beta 22 monster because you can do it for around 400$ if you only do two boards and the power supply, and you get a high-powered reference-class amp while you are at it. Of course it does not matter how good your amp is at a certain point, if your DAC is inferior you...
