impulsively bought the denon d2000's....should I return them?

Permit me one more observation: the D2000 remarkably have the most stable and accurate imaging of any of my cans, with K701s coming in second and Senns a clear third. Stax are more holographic than all of these but also more diffuse (I only have Lambdas and Lambda Pros so heft a grain of salt...

impulsively bought the denon d2000's....should I return them?

Listening to D2000s now . Bought them in Japan on an impulse that was felt after listening to 100 other cans in Akihabarra where they were all playing the same music. No can is perfect, they all had interesting flavors but the impulse said for the money, D2000 were a standout performer. Lots of...

Looking for full balanced integrated CD player with warm analog sound

IMO, I found the Naim CD5i to be analog(ish) and chose it in part for that reason. Would recommend looking for used or an opportunity to listen without commitment. Warm, detailed, and good dynamics. Not real common and IMO expensive new, but it is a nice variant on flavor.

can a portable amp replace gilmore lite?

Y'all had me curious so I tried Pico (from AAC lossless(PC)), MicroStack (from cheapo DVD transport optical out), and then MicroDAC (same cheapo transport) into G-Lite with whatever I was listening to at the time (Miranda Lambert, Kerosene), through Denon D2000s (25ohm). Pico: Sweet, sweet...

Review: Portable amp roundup! 56 portable amps reviewed and compared - FINAL update 12-20-10 added RSA SR-71B

Many thanks for the incredible wealth of information, quality and consistency of approach in these reviews, Skylab. It helps so much to have a reference spectrum, from which to start and to which to compare one's own impressions. Big Head-Fi smiley...

    HD595 and Total Bithead?

I don't often make claims about synergy as it is so subjective and individual specific, but the one claim I will make in this area is that the HD595 and the Bithead really sound great together for whatever reason. IMO, the HD595 sounds OK out of most anything but has a signature that is specific...

Thinking of buying a Pro-Ject Debut III turntable - any advise?

I just picked up one of these (Debut III) with the OM5e stock cartridge in tasty lime green as a backup/knock around table. Everything seems functionally fine and the build quality is more than acceptable for this price. However, the sonic signature is WAY tipped up in the high frequencies to...

relaxed, warm, laid-back cdp under 2k

Might want to give the Naim CD5i a listen. IMO, it is musical, liquid, and tonally sweet without sacrificing punch and PRAT. It comes close to my vinyl rig in sound signature and that is the main reason I chose it over current Arcam and other brand offerings in the same price range. Never...

    Cambridge Azur 840c

I'd be interested in any other Head-Fier comments/experiences with this player (840c). I'm thinking about getting one and pitting it head-to-head with the Naim CD5i in unbalanced configuration. Seems like a nice feature set due to ability to move to balanced later. Another option I am...
