    Headphones Recommendation for College Student

I'm not sure burn in matters so much, though your ears may adjust to more treble presence over time. Not sure about iTunes defaults, but if you have the option of flac alac or other lossless or higher quality mp3/aac/ogg etc you'll hear some difference as you up the bit rates. It's also possible...

Best noise isolating AND cancelling headphones?

I had to ship them from a website a few years back - westone um1. But most decent iems will do the same job of isolating... As long as you get 'tips' that fit. Do a search here for item and your budget and/or check out the for sale threads for other options.

Best noise isolating AND cancelling headphones?

My solution for a similar situation was a set of musician iems (in ear monitors)... They're often better value than consumer oriented ones, and isolate WAY better than any over ear headphones I've had. Also, they don't compromise the music w white noise & such - or require you to turn the volume...

    Headphones Recommendation for College Student

BTW, when I bought them they were still $200+ and still considered a really good deal, so 115 is a great deal.

    Headphones Recommendation for College Student

One thing about the m50s is that they really benefit from decent quality source files... Both in bit rate and gain. Using Mp3 gain and 190k and up help them sound great. Any lower and they start to bring out the imperfections and such, since they were designed for studio use. Ive had mine for a...

    Android phones and USB DACs

Hey folks, been haunting a bit on this and similar threads around here... wondering if anybody's put together a reference on how much battery life we're getting using usb out of a phone to a dac/amp? - esp. without using a battery pack?   I mean, I know there must be a difference between the...

iBasso D42 "Mamba" with dual dacs! !! Hey Hey! Improved Starting on Page 76 .

Hey all,   Just wanted to say thanks for all the info in this thread. I just received my d4 a half hour ago, and am really enjoying it, placebo or no!   I thought my laptop sounded good (and it did), but so far in going back and forth over a couple of my favourite songs a few things have...

Sansa Fuze FM reception with mini-mini

Hello all, I've got a Fuze v2 and will be purchasing a portable dac/amp (likely the d4) in the next few weeks. I'm wondering how much interconnect length and materials (assuming I connect to the hp out) affects fm reception. I notice only very minor differences between the different...

    Help w Troubleshooting Vintage Headphone

Despite obvious lack of interest, someone someday might have a similar problem, so I'll update if a solution is found (they're off to Cyberspyder who'll be taking a more knowledgeable look at them).

    IEM for 100$

I bought some Westone um1's ($109) a year back and I've loved them. I've found a simple change of insert really affects their presentation too (warmest, very bassy & most comfortable = comply; more detailed but still warm sound & comfortable = olive; more clarity/detail w tight bass & a bit less...

    Help w Troubleshooting Vintage Headphone

Hello all, thanks for reading.   I've got a vintage set of zenith headphones in excellent shape with a pretty good sound, but there's something up with the left/right channels. While the jack, cabling, connections and phone housing look untampered-with and in near perfect condition, the...
