Snow Leopard with USB Dac issues?
Not noticed this myself yet with my Macbook Pro (the first of the unibody models from late 2008) and my Corda Aria, but maybe I just haven't stressed the CPU enough while listening with the USB DAC. What I have noticed however is that system sounds (like the file copy complete noise) appear to...- Shambla

Who Here is Tempted by The New Olympus E-P1 Micro 4/3 Camera?
I am certainly very interested in the E-P1 as a higher quality and more versatile replacement for my Ricoh GRD II, which gets significantly more use these days than my Canon 30D. That said, the GRD III is due out in the Autumn and given how much I love the GRD II, I think I will wait at...- Shambla

Oxford, England
Just to add to what G-man was saying about teaching, there aren't grammar schools in Oxford, but there are a hell of a lot of private schools in and around the city. However, without previous teaching experience in the UK educational system, or a PGCE (UK higher education teaching qualification)...- Shambla

Oxford, England
Lived in or just outside of Oxford for most of my life and yes, housing is expensive especially right in the centre, which is where almost all of the University is. It isn't nearly as ridiculous as London, but it isn't a cheap place to rent or buy. Living somewhere further out but within the...- Shambla

The Woo Audio 2
People may also want to try the SQ version of the Philips 6922 - got a pair for my WA2 a couple of weeks back and I am liking them a lot - leagues above the normal Philips 6922s that ship with the amp. They do a 7308 version too, but those are more expensive. Anyone tried 6922s or 7308s from...- Shambla

The Woo Audio 2
Man, all these posers with their new WA2s - I was loving mine before they were cool Seriously though, I would agree that it is a superb amp - mine continues to impress me well over a year after I bought it (though I think the Naim CD5i I got over the summer may have had something to do with...- Shambla

Happy Fallout 3 Day!
Unfortunately we've gotta wait until friday here in the UK. As for reviews, there are a few floating around online - Eurogamer for a start gave it 10/10 and I generally have faith in their opinions.- Shambla

Woo Audio 2 as pre amp
I did briefly try using my WA2 as a preamp with my speaker setup and it sounded nice - I'd definately agree about the nice soundstage when used as a pre, the sound was perhaps a touch warmer than my Rotel SS preamp and the level of detail was good. It was a while ago tho so I can't be much more...- Shambla

K701 with black or silver dragon cable
I have the K701s with the Black Dragon and like them a lot - for a while I owned both these and the stock K701s and whilst the differences were not huge, the modded ones were preferable to my ears. However, I have not heard K701s with the Silver Dragon cable, though I seem to remember someone...- Shambla

K701 Re-Cabling
I agree with the general consensus so far that a cable change is probably not the way to go. I currently own 2 pairs of K701s, one standard and the other with a Black Dragon cable (already fitted when I bought them). Whilst to my ears there are subtle differences between the 2 and I do prefer...- Shambla
