Hopefully, we'll know more about the 7200s after this weekend!

Any feedback on how Tidal is working on the AK70?

    Oppo HA-1 Impressions Thread

I'm very happy with mine. Wasn't a fan of the Oppo cans, but it doesn't matter: the amp superbly drives both my ADH-5000s and Nighthawks. In the case of the Fostex drivers, I never heard them as seductively beautiful before, not with Little Dot tubes, Peachtree's Nova, a Cayin tube amp or my...

    New iRiver AK70

Update: I went with the seller's balanced cable terminated for my needs as TRRS. Great decision, as it turns out, both for sound and bespoke craftsmanship. So thanks for the tip!   FYI for those auditioning: the AK70 and the Audioquest Nighthawks in balanced mode are one sweet match. This from...

    New iRiver AK70

Thanks, I'm going to investigate that Ebay seller's options. In the meantime, I reached out to Audioquest. In case it helps someone else, the specs for the Nighthawk/AK70 balanced cable are a 2 x mono 2.5mm to 1 x 2.5mm TRRS.

    New iRiver AK70

Can someone help a balanced cable novice by suggesting one for the AK70 with Nighthawks?    I found this option but would prefer something braided: https://www.surfcables.com/products/sennheiser-hd700-headphone-cables?variant=18269269891   Does a balanced cable's plug always have three...

    New iRiver AK70

Thanks for the details, George. I'm giving the AK70 some serious thought. The other day, I auditioned the JR which sounded surprisingly rich and seductive with DSD driving a pair of 25-Ohm Nighthawks. (I've heard "So What" by Miles Davis on rigs costing many times this and the JR/Hawks combo...

    New iRiver AK70

I'm glad to see this. I was just looking into the question and found a lot of complaining on the JRiver forums about connectivity with AK DAPs. But to be sure, not on the MC22 Mac forum specifically (and that's my setup too).   So you're finding it smooth, without drop outs? Do you stream any...

    E-MU Wooden Series Headphones

I love the D5000s for their deeply relaxing signature. My experiences with Grado RS2s (more urgent and transparent) and Oppo PM1s (much wider and deeper ss) have each time sent me back to my old Denons where, somehow, the weaknesses of the design always yield after a few minutes to crazy...

New hybrid amp by Little Dot, I+

New hybrid amp by Little Dot, I+

Enjoying my I+ with RS-2s and D5000s. What a musical little amp -- my first tube experience. Before buying the Little Dot, I'd been on the verge of selling my RS-2s. I wouldn't now. They sound much better than when driven by my SS amps -- the modded Zero and Rev. B iBasso D1 -- as in...

    REVIEW: Head-Direct EF1 tube/hybrid headphone amp

I enjoyed this insightful review. Skylab, do you think any useful generalizations about SQ can be made about hybrid vs. tube amps in headphone use? Or is it all down to individual design? I'm investigating the hybrid route for my Grado RS2s and Denon D5ks, but am loathe to give up tube...

New hybrid amp by Little Dot, I+

Thanks, Sebastian. So far so good, it seems. As you listen more it'll be intriguing to hear if you think the hybrid brings any compromises to the table, or if it's simply a different sound signature.
