It drives them fine, it's just that the external amp makes the sound a load better. I suppose it should be no surprise - external specialist amp does a better job than internal one.- Pottsy2

The dx90 is acting as a digital transport, so the volume does nothing. Therefore I have it at zero...- Pottsy2

Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆
Bit late to the party, but just got a Mojo... Compared to my Ibasso DX90, through Westone 4R's, it sounds just a little nicer. Not earth shattering by any means, but just a touch more detail or clarity. However... I thought this had an amp that would "drive any headphones". Using my Fidelio...- Pottsy2

I always thought the sound improved on the DX90 after 10 to 20 mins of listening from cold. I wonder if the Pisen has some odd or unwanted temperature/current/voltage behaviour that the Samsung doesn't.- Pottsy2

I have to say, I don't buy any of this "battery makes any difference" nonsense. I am reasonably qualified in these kind of things (but not nearly as much as others here). Out of curiosity, though, to prove how right I am, I bought a genuine Samsung battery. I am here to report how wrong...- Pottsy2

Where did the bass and imaging go? 2.0.5 sounds boring, flat and "cheap". The slow roll off seems to have more of an effect on some tracks than others - to evaluate it I used a track of a person counting from a test disc. The filter switches in and out immediately with an audible "click". The...- Pottsy2

The DX90 by iBasso . . . Sound impressions . . . . . . . New Firmware, 2.5.1 . . .
They are 325i. I have had them for years, and hardly ever use them. No bass, slight channel imbalance, uncomfortable and a couple of massive treble spikes that make it sound so very coloured and very piercing if the music has anything in those frequency bands. However, the treble is accurate...- Pottsy2

NP. But note that my original assessment was at 0 hours on the DX90, and my second assessment was with about 300 hours burn time. In my experience burn time does make positive changes, albeit small ones.- Pottsy2

Interestingly, I just spent a few hours at the desk today listening to my ODAC (via Forza into Meier Quickstep, and W4R). I had previously compared this to the DX90 and found them too close to call. Today I realised that the treble and imaging is better with the DX90 + W4R, so spent 10 minutes...- Pottsy2

= HiFiMAN HE-560 Impressions & Discussion Thread =
Placed my order at HeadDirect, but it was denied at the last stage as I live in the UK. I was directed to electromod, who don't list the 560. They do list the 500 for $1185 + an unknown delivery charge, almost exactly double the $599 from HeadDirect. Disgraceful, and very disappointing.- Pottsy2

dw1narso, Yes - I very quickly replaced the X1 cable with a Fisual S-Flex cable that has a very low measured resistance. Nice cans, the X1, but not quite as revealing as the W4R IEMs.- Pottsy2

I'll skip all the usual nonsense and go straight to what matters - how does this thing sound? I have just put the DX90 through a comparison test with all the appropriate gear I have. I settled on a track from a Sheffield Labs test disc to do the comparison, because it is a good recording and...- Pottsy2

He writes: sound in both ears (sometimes one) was getting disappeared rather often (1 time per 15-30 seconds) and returned back. Faulty unit maybe, with fault affecting SQ?- Pottsy2
