Unfortunately right now I'm using a 996 MHz with 256 Mb of Ram. I dont have my internet hooked up to my computer with a 3.4 GHz and 512 Mb RAM. I think that inputting all the track titles by hand would make up for any increase in encoding speed, but increase my frustration quite a bit.

I was originally using 192 with it on highest quality on LAME and on the Fraunhofer plugin and it was taking rediculously long. I dont know that I really need highest quality because I'm just using it to put it on my nomad, but I do like to use 192 vs 128 and I can deffinitely tell a difference...

I would like to rip MP3's from my CD collection and I like to have the best quality I can get. How much does changing the encoding quality actually make a difference? It takes way too long to rip with it on highest quality. Thanks

I went to the store the other day and saw a pair of Sony MDR-7509's for almost $200. What are these? I haven't seen too much discussion on them and are they 3.5x better than the V-6?

In response to a previous post, I haven't tried the 280's, but the V-6's I dont think really have that much bass. I've spent a few hours now listening to them and they seem to be pretty well balanced phones. I think some of the mid section is missing, but overall they're well balanced.

What kinds of amps and other equipment could I get to make it sound better?

Before I bought these headphones, I saw a few postings that said the V-6's have too much bass. I disagree. I dont think these headphones have as much bass as my cheap ones, either that or they're just better balanced. Any thoughts?

Right now I'm looking at either a Yamaha CLP-970 Clavinova or a Kawai MP-9500, but I really need good headphones before I make my final decision. As far as any other musical gear, that's all farther down the road.
