    AKG's New Flagship IEM - N5005

I received mine on Friday and they've been running in since. I'm not at all sensitive to the highs many people seem to be. HD800 is still my "perfect reference" - so frame my comments accordingly. There's a LOT I like about the N5005. However, very "fiddly" fit for me. I've had to struggle...

ACS Encore Studio New 5 Driver CIEM!

Received mine on Tuesday. Fit is perfect, as per usual with ACS. Have had them running in since I pulled them out of their box, but initial impressions are very positive, at least relative to my 3 year old ACS Custom Evolve. MUCH better than the Encore I tried previously.

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

The best thing about the IE800 S is that you can now buy the IE800 for $579.99 from B&H. Personally, I prefer my original IE800. Imaging is better, due I have no doubt, to what many experience as "peakiness". Beyond that the difference are very subtle, and is (IMHO) a matter of "seasoning"...

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

I have a set of Snugs ear tips made for my IE800. Great quality and fit perfectly. Sadly, for me at least, I find that they audibly surpress the high frequencies the IE800 handles so beautifully. They'd be better than nothing for using my IE800 or 800S on a long airplane flight, but I...

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

I have approximately 30 hours of listening time in now, with probably 150 hours of play time, on my new IE800 S. I'm finding, that while the bass is generally more articulate than on my IE800, that something is missing - completely missing - in the lower range of frequencies. At times they...

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

I tried mine with the Snugs Pro custom tips I had made for my IE800 and had a similar result - to much in the way of high frequency suppression, or at least they materially interfere with how I perceive the higher frequencies.

Same length as the IE800 above the Y, roughly 6 inches longer below the Y. Thanks for nothing Sennheiser.

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

LOL....gee thanks. Yah, if only. I can't wear them over the ear. The cable length above the y isn't long enough, just like with my original IE800.

    Exactly. I'd second that motion.

Mine just arrived. It totally escapes my comprehension why Sennheiser can't deal with the issue of such a horribly microphonic cable.........UGH!!!!!!!!

sennheiser ie800 s ---- the new flagship iem

Mine arrived today. Too early on to speak to changes in sound, but I can sadly report that the "new" cable is every bit as short and microphonic as the one on my original IE800. How Sennheiser thinks this is ok is just beyond my comprehension.

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

Exactly!! I only wish I could pass off a cool 'fro like that kid had.

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

I respectfully disagree. I just have a huge head...lol. 7 7/8 hat size. I've owned 2 sets of HD650 cans through the years. The first set I broke trying to "break in" the headband clamping force. The replacement set I kept for 5 years and worked them in more gradually, but a lot of that was...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

Received mine and returned them just outside of 48 hours. Clamping force was too extreme to tolerate. Velour pads were far itchier than either my 600s or 650s. Tonal improvements were certainly noticeable, especially at the upper end. Lower end has been cleaned up nicely, but I didn't...
