I am early waiting to see what changed sound wise, and I like the cable choices

Mine arrived today. Too early on to speak to changes in sound, but I can sadly report that the "new" cable is every bit as short and microphonic as the one on my original IE800. How Sennheiser thinks this is ok is just beyond my comprehension.
