Per the FAQ: Do the tubes need to be matched? The two input tubes, yes. The 8 output tubes, nope.

Clean dental floss works. A long piece, wrap it around the bottom a few times and carefully work it out.

I had been holding out for a used Rag, but I found a used Wyred 4 Sound DAC2V2 SE for a pretty good price, so I jumped on it. So far really happy. Have not compared it to any Schiit though. But it has really transformed my system in a good way.

I have found the Sylvania tubes to generally sound more extended than some others - if by SS tube that is what you are referring to.

Oh, that Cary is a gem. I bought one new back in the day and I regret letting it go. They are hard to find now. If I ever see one in good shape, I'm gonna jump on that one to get my clutches on again.

I would unplug it for a while then plug it back in and power up and see if it continues. If so, you may want to contact Schiit.

I'll second those Raytheon. They were my favorite until I went to the small 12at7 and/or 12au7 using adapters. I don't use 6SN7 any longer.
