Singxer SA-1 / Balanced Amplifier Fully Discrete Class A - beyond THX 888 ?!
Okay, good. Because I tried both the CFC and non-CFC and to me only the CFC one was special. The normal one probably isn't worth bothering over the stock, at least from memory. Definitely don't want to be too much of a burn-in bro here—I could always detect a difference right after installing...- Friskyseal

Singxer SA-1 / Balanced Amplifier Fully Discrete Class A - beyond THX 888 ?!
Just to be clear, you got the one with the CFC coating, right? The body of the fuse is black?- Friskyseal

Singxer SA-1 / Balanced Amplifier Fully Discrete Class A - beyond THX 888 ?!
Oh, cool. That's pretty clever. Thanks for clarifying. You're right, I was thinking the VDE logo might be an arrow. But! For most of my testing, I went by the orientation/direction of the logo or text on the body of the fuse. For the HiFi-Tuning/SR/Gustard fuses that's pretty easy, but the Acme...- Friskyseal

Singxer SA-1 / Balanced Amplifier Fully Discrete Class A - beyond THX 888 ?!
I don't understand this, because if I take the fuse out of my Singxer, the amp will not power on?- Friskyseal

You pretty much figured it out for yourself. You want 2A Small Slow-Blow. The Gustard fuse (which I don't ultimately recommend) doesn't come in 2A; some people in this thread figured out that the 1.6A version is close enough and works fine. Maybe this introduces some form of risk, I don't know...- Friskyseal

Singxer SA-1 / Balanced Amplifier Fully Discrete Class A - beyond THX 888 ?!
Oh, you just have to try it. I was skeptical, too. "It's a safety device—it has no effect on the sound at all." It doesn't make sense, but for whatever reason it has an impact on the sound. The fuse is coloring the power somehow as it enters into the amp, I dunno. Honestly I originally wrote...- Friskyseal

Singxer SA-1 / Balanced Amplifier Fully Discrete Class A - beyond THX 888 ?!
I also found the SA-1 to be significantly superior to the Jot2. The reason these two amps are compared a lot is they have an identical form factor and therefore stack well with Schiit midlevel DACS that many in this hobby start out with. I went from Asgard 3 to Jot 2 to SA-1. The Jot 2 is...- Friskyseal

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
The A.T. highs are the same as the reds; in fact, the headphone is even brighter overall because the mid-bass is toned down and you get more presence in the high-mids. If the reds were too piercing for you I would stay away.- Friskyseal

In my view it's a case of prominent communtiy members/Youtubers taking a vocal position and it influencing and "trickling down" into the masses. Moreover, since a shallow-seated silicone tip is less invasive, more people will adopt it, get used to it, and then claim it is sonically superior...- Friskyseal

Schiit Audio Bifrost 2
I think it has a lot to do with the temperature of your room. If you're constantly running A/C and your room doesn't go over 72°, then of course you're not going to understand. Right now it's sweltering and I don't run A/C during the day. It's probably around 85-90° in my room (upstairs); I'm no...- Friskyseal

Schiit Audio Bifrost 2
I agree the 2/64 case gets warm, but I seriously doubt it is able to raise ambient temperature at all. Your PC's CPU is hitting 60+ degrees C (140+ F!) and have fans blowing out hot air into the room. The Bifrost is small and you can easily touch it no matter how warm it gets. There's no comparison.- Friskyseal

Singxer SA-1 / Balanced Amplifier Fully Discrete Class A - beyond THX 888 ?!
It's not reasonable to expect to hear a difference immediately changing out a component of an amp you have just purchased. When you are tinkering for that last 5-10% of performance, it's more typical to live with the sound for a period of time (like, months), and then start playing with things...- Friskyseal
