Have you ever listened to a song over and over for days
Not usually the actual same track, but I sometimes like to listen to different versions of the same track back to back, or even at the same time. ie. original studio version, demo version, 12" re-mix, disco re-mix, live version 1, 2..., cover version 1, 2,... Not sure if that makes me weird... -
What Format is Your Music?
CD as the starting point, though all my collection is now in FLAC and MP3 at various bitrates. The 320kbps MP3 get listened to most often at the moment, though FLAC is gaining ground on the home setup. -
Which piece do you have the most recordings of (and why)?
I've got multiple versions of Handel's Violin Sonatas and Bach's Keyboard Concerti, plus quite a few other composers' well known works - Vivaldi, Corelli, Mozart, Haydn etc. They're all favourites of mine, the works that is, and you often get an interesting new performance slant or approach with... -
should I sell my watch, to buy cool audio gear
Sell the watch. With a decent audio system you won't even care what the time is. Then again with a splendid timepiece you might not be too worried about listening to music. Tough one.- Barock

People rate 192kbps mp3 higher than FLAC in test
It's good news in a way - for portable equipment it means it's not really necessary to go beyond 192k MP3, hence more music on the move. At home, of course you can go as lossless as you like. Unless of course you use the same equipment for both home and away.- Barock

Do you believe in Burn-In?
Maybe initially, straight out the box. If they've been languishing in a shop/warehouse for years. After all headphones/speakers have mechanical components that might need perking up. But I don't buy the religious burn-in ritual, 200+ hours of white noise/pink noise in the right conditions etc...- Barock

Which program do you use to rip your CD library?
Audiograbber to Wav... Then Audacity to FLAC/MP3... -
Best Lossy Format?
I'd go with MP3 (Lame v0) for universality now, and your lossless files for the future. Life's too short...- Barock

Anyone still using cassette?
Nostalgia only - but there's nothing wrong with that. It's still great to listen to old recordings as a reminder of how things used to sound. Things have moved on though, and I wouldn't go back to cassette in any real practical sense.- Barock

Is it better to have a large music collection or a smaller, focused one?
My music collection at around 500 CDs is actually very focussed, almost to the point of exclusivity of all but the few categories I know I like after 30+ years of listening. Sure, this is limiting, but then there's only a limited amount of time for listening, and I'd rather have a focussed... -
