The biggest difference is the "blackness" when I first put them in , very clean and quiet background compared to the DY2000 and 2604s. The soundstage is most definately bigger... I would call it instrument placement is much better and defined the soundstage sounds similar to the DY2000 and 2604s but everything is more robust and tight. I really want to try these when they fully burn in with the DY2000 in the center , though I am loving the sound of all three LM4562s right now. Great find. I also have the Blackgate mod , DC blocking cap mod. |

Amazing the blackness you mentioned, they are noticeably quiet and things sound so clean and focused. It definitely has the open quality of the DY2000 in spades but it's fuller too and tighter. The LM4562 is a new opamp that I believe just came out sometime this past year, maybe summer or late summer. They have been a hit in many other forums (DIY Audio, Audio Circle, etc.) and there has been a lot of talk about this opamp in the various forums here speculating about them before anyone had got them. There are many others at this forum who have had this opamp for quite some time now and there are other impressions (Pink Floyd is a huge fan of them). Apparently National Semiconductor had set out to design a true audiophile opamp and so this opamp really has been designed and optimized with audio applications in mind. I'm not the best with specifications but people have raved how good the specs are with the 4562. A lot of times specs don't always account for what we hear but I'm guessing in this case the specs really tell the story big time. |
