The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

A new firmware would be great mainly because it will spawn new modded firmwares. I've been absent from this thread awhile because I've just been so content with SU 1.3.3 with my re-400 and im-70 for when I want to do a little dubstep while at the gym. I guess I will soon dive into shopping for some good cans for my music taste but I am more than pleased with the dx50 and it's sound. I may have found my audio nirvana, though I hope to find someone close by with some cans I can test out to see how I like the full size headphones with it.  Coil has been super helpful here and just MAY have me find someone who can change out the caps, but idk if I would like it more since I'm so pleased now.  Anyway, glad to see the dx50 is still getting some much deserved love here.  Awesome product!

If You are pleased with the SQ atm, then let it be. But changing caps makes SQ even better for sure
You can always make a test rig like I did and choose the caps that fit Your taste.
It would be loose someday, right?
How long it would be loose by itself?

Weird question. It depends how You use it. Nothing comes loose just by itself.

Yes, mine is totally ok. Been using it from July 2014, so, almost 8 months.

Hi All,

I've got a crucial question! My DX50 is on the first ever modified 1.2.8 with Rockbox (the initial release with the Mango and RB image for boot).
Do I need to do something special to updated to the latest official firmware?

I cant remember if there was something in the instructions back then!!

Steps I should do?

Thanks
Tasos

Are you using ASIO4All drivers? If so, check the settings for input, not output. This should do the thing.

I should be receiving my iBasso DX50 soon...I'm wondering if I should use some custom firmware? If I did, is there one that's the best? It seems that Sound Unlocked gets a lot of love, and it's up to version 1.4.0...I'm inclined to go with that. Is there also one called Mango, or is that for the DX90? I see a lot of people talk about SU1.3.3 but nothing about 1.4.0.

I ask because I Rockboxed my iPod Classic once and was underwhelmed.

SU 1.4.0 is also very good but I personally prefer 1.3.3 due to its presentation/imaging. What version suits best for You is up to Your ears and gear. Try and find out
And don`t forget that SU has hidden bootup menu with different sound options to choose from.

There are also newer Rockbox versions of Sound Unlocked. You should definitely try those too if You are more into rockbox. Personally, I prefer simplicity and functionality of Mango UI based Sound Unlocked. Again, try what suits for Your taste and needs best

Mango is the name of official software/UI, nothing more.

I downloaded both, so I think I'll start with 1.3.3 and get used to it before branching out. I'm a bit of a tinkerer so I'll try them all!

Thanks for the info about Mango. I've been looking around for it and couldn't understand why I didn't find anything more specific.
