Around/over-ear/full size headphones are also known as circumaural, and on-ears as supra-aural. Click the links for explanation and pictures.

The XB300 is a lot smaller than the XB500 and XB700 - I don't think it would be too cumbersome outside, especially if you are also considering a full-size DJ can such as the DJ100. As for your other choices, the DTX300P and K430 really aren't bass oriented. The AKG K518 may be your best bet - it's got a short cable than the K81DJ but otherwise the same form factor. The JVC HA-M750 is also reasonably compact (though larger than the K518) and quite bass-heavy.

Thanks for your kind reply. You really cleared some things up (again)! :) Most probably K518 suits me for the moment. And the price also seems great for what they can. If I have other questions, I'll ask.

I've used XB700 to game, and yes too much bass, even the voices were all weird. and the battles in some RPG games.... it was like someone was bombing all over.

They're actually quite good with old games that use synths like NES/SNES/GB/GBA/ and some DS games.  If you're playing something new with a prerecorded ST that isn't all EDM or trance or something, you might be served better with a different phones though.

Correct, but I feel as if the soundstage is not wide enough for Super Mario Brothers 3. Positional accuracy of the Goomba is also a little off. I've died numerous times because of this and it's quite frustrating.

Lulz.  The soundstage on them is actually very wide as long as you don't turn them up too much.  If you do, cone breakup eats all the detail and it collapses into a singularity of awfulness...

Of course it never has any depth, but on a sidescroller who care about that!

so we agree that the XB700 are the best headphones to use with the original Gameboy.

Its a very fun set of cans, I still use them sometimes when I want a blast of bass into my brain. and they cost less than most "bassheads" tagged cans

I use them with my DS if I'm playing it at home.
