Hmmm HD650 Bad Ass!!
I love the look, I love the sound through my Darkvoice 336SE with upgraded tubes and cables.
I can't wait to experience these rigged with upgraded aftermarket cable. I was thinking Zu Audio Möbius II. Any suggestions/opinions on the Zu or anything bettering should consider?

I also want that cable but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm currently looking a the Toxic silver poison cable, it's only £160 ($300) and has had quite a few good reviews.

Off Topic (but I just gotta say it)

I'm really new to the HD650 and they are my first pair of high end cans, but I just gotta say these are blowing my mind.  I am just using stock cable and Fiio e7/e09k and just knowing that upgrading my chain these can get even better blows my mind even more.

I guess I'm saying I appreciate these.

edit: words

I also have the E09k and E7 and it really is a good budget combo. The only thing is, I know the HD650 can do so much more. I will be upgrading to a Bottlehead Crack and maybe a HRT Streamer II soon. Apparently the crack is one of the best amps for the HD650 in that price range and even rivals amps $1000 +.

been playing mine for 2 days (with stock cable and ALO silver cable). No complain so far. Very nice sound. Dark sounding towards neutral with very pleasant detail and music separation. Some say the mids is a bit laid back but i think is just fine. The bass is a bit heavy at bottom. it makes the sound more meaty IMO. No veiled or muffled btw. Very good SQ.  I just love it much. Still lacking resolution compared to my t5p..but oh boy..i just can't take this off from my head....

considering its price tag...no wonder its a legend !

Just curious if anyone has had a chance to compare the HD650 with the Lyr/Bifrost and Bottlehead Crack?

I was at a local meet this past weekend and I tried the HD650 on Crack (no Speedball upgrade) and I must say I was actually floored...definitely lives up to the hype and now I'm ordering my Crack to build soon. It just energized the HD650...bass tightened right up and it was quick and full of life. If my Darkvoice makes them hot coco with marshmallows, the Bottlehead turned them into espresso with a shot of whiskey.

Sadly, the guy with the Lyr/Bifrost never showed up so I couldn't compare and see if it's all that and a bag of Cheetos (so many food metaphors, I know) I did hear the Asgard/Bifrost and while it sounded quite good, I didn't feel that it was anything resoundingly special....definitely not so much as HD650/Crack combo.

On a side note, the Magni/Modi combo is REALLY nice for the price.

Although I've not heard either, looking at reviews the crack is the better amp for the HD650s and you'd be hard pushed to find a better amp. I'm ordering the crack tomorrow :)

If you were thinking of upgrading to a different headphone in the future e.g. planars then the lyr would probably be the better choice. For me though I'm not planning to upgrade the HD650s, I absolutely love them.

Sometimes they have the Zu Audio möbius on eBay but not for the past month or so. I did get a Zu Audio Mission Interconnect. Plugged into my Darkvoice it really "woke up" the senny's. Also released some veil

Yea, personally I'm leaning towards one of the Schiit combos as a future upgrade cause I really just can't stand the look of the Crack... the top plug configuration really bothers me (cable strain? unless i get an L-plug) and I simply do not have the tools nor time and skills to build one.  Besides, MattTCG makes such a good case for Lyr =P.  But all joking aside, I'm considering HE-500 as a future complement to my rig (the HD 650 will never leave)... so I figure the Lyr or something similar would be my best bet.

I really appreciate the HD650, but have never owned a pair and would like to buy a set. I've been a long time member but can't post a wanted due to not having the 15 post requirement.

WTB: HD650 with silver drivers, must be willing to ship to Canada......Thanx
