Try this one made this year and let me know your thoughts (available in 44.1 and 48kHz)

This one gave me this kind of feeling, which is quite nice
But might be even better with a bit less reverb

The previous one (2021) gives impression that the speaker is right beside monitor, which actually fits my my office desk setup making me think the sounds is from there haha

But both are really nice, while trying to keep the sound natural. thank you!

Any idea why when using Hiby link controller, the artist and song title are always one behind the track playing (but cover art is correct)?
Also, charges to 100. Switch it back on and it's dropped immediately to 80.?
Cheers

The Hiby R5 battery had swollen up. Ran a CT scan on the the swollen cell and it's of the lowest quality by our standards here at work. Hiby needs to find a better battery supplier. Anyways, I stuck in a used ATL cell in the R5 and got 4AH now vs 3.5 stock. This cell will last me way longer vs the stock one.

New "used" cell made by ATL. It's a tight fit.

My battery also charges to 100% and then drops down into the 80's after startup. I assume the battery is tired but I do still get decent run-time... I don't use Hiby link.

@Joe Bloggs

Any thoughts on the battery? I know there have been issues with batteries bulging. I have started using only a 5 watt charger to keep the heat down, thinking that may help.

I'm thinking we're all too happy to swap them out for you guys for next to nothing even out of warranty if only the damn post office and customs would let us...

So are you saying the battery is on the way out? is this a recognised sign?
Do you have any office/shop in Uk or Europe that can swap the battery if needed?
Certainly if you charge to 100%, and it goes down to 80s% just because it's been left for awhile, that doesn't sound good for the battery.
But if it goes straight to 80s% right after being charged to 100% I'd more suspect a software bug?

If you bought the unit from a recognized local seller, you should be able to have it serviced through them, even though that just means they take care of sending the unit to us for you.

Well, my OG R5 (Cirrus) is still one of my most used DAPs, mainly for the small form factor with balanced output. I'd buy another when the battery dies, but Hiby seems to have abandoned the small Android DAP market. Any chance we will see that again?

Also, the Amazon Music app hasn't worked in high-resolution for a while now; I really wish that would get sorted.

I replaced mine in about 5 minutes w/ a soldering iron. Easy-peasy.
then the only trouble is finding a legit replacement source, when we are unable to obtain the certifications for shipping bare batteries internationally 🤐

was there an old version of the app that worked for that until recently?

Yes. Version 22.12.2 works at 24/192.
If I remember right, that resamples everything to that sample rate.

Do later versions *never* play at these high rates even for hi res content shown as being encoded at these high rates?
