Would love to hear your opinion of the two.

Both are excellent sounding DAP´s
QP1R maybe more "analogue" sounding but i don´t think i would 100% recognize them in blind test
For my ears the SQ upgrade from DX90 to QP1R is much smaller than from DX50 to DX90, but i can live with this

Pros:
fantastic build quality
external desing - i like the old school ipod flair
2 memory card slots

Cons:
scroll wheel (driving me mad)
volume knob (rotating few degrees without affecting the volume)
my home stereo cables are "too fat" for the line out jack
no USB DAC functionality (good bye foobar2000)

For me of what I've owned or compared directly to at least another in the mix using some 24/192 masters that I know intimately. (original)X5<DX90<AK100mk2<AK120, ....<QP1r. QP1r is in TOTL category. Haven't heard an AK380 nor directly compared to an AK240 but it certainly competes with the 240,  HM901s, LPG, etc. that I have heard.

We all know about the unique amp design but what surprises me is how good the line out is. On paper, it's a simpler architecture to some of it's more costly competition yet leaves nothing on the table to them.

Got mine in the post today and only listened to it for the last hour and wow! The sound on this thing is insane!!

Certainly trumps the ZX2, you can feel the power of the music coming through as it grabs you by the scruff and takes you away.

What a lovely looking player, the scroll wheel is fine too :).
