Wow, does the hand-tuned CEntrance DACportable have phenomenal synergy with my PS1k's!!! That is some awesome AK4490 DAC implementation.

How would you compare the DACPort to your HiFiM8? Thanks!

I have to do some more critical listening but the main differences as to how the DACportable differs from the HiFiM8 are as follows:
1) The treble has more extension/linearity.
2) Mids are smoother as the HiFiM8 can sound slightly etched in comparison. Except with the HIFIM8 you can change the impedance which has like a dampening effect with the PS1K that seems to take any noticeable grain out of the mids.
3) Sub-Bass is aligned with the bass and lower mids sounding more present/coherent. Makes the PS1K bass more snappy too with a fast leading edge.

I still have not played with the tone controls as yet. That's next on the list.

Has anyone found a way to increase the clamping force on these? I have bent the headband with mild results, but I would like quite a bit more pressure. These headphones are great, but sheesh, this is quite poorly designed.

bend about 2cm from both sides inwards, that's the only tip i know.

So.

This happened:

I'm back in the club with a museum-grade pair of "wet" finished cans. Never seen this finish before, but it is by far my favorite!

Simply gorgeous!

I can't imagine my life without my PS1000 either

do those have a serial number below 200? because the finish looks like mine, but the edges are edgier on your model.

Man I freakin love these cans.

Any of you blokes running yours from an all-tube amp? I've got mine coming from a Woo WA6 being fed from my JKenny Cuinas, but I've got a Woo WA8 inbound that I hope will replace the former.

Also, anyone use theirs with the Lohb comfort straps?

Joe,

Using the roadblocks from the seller you you informed me about a while back, you can buy (THIS) suspension strap from Cascadia Audio and buy 2 longer #3 screws (and flat washers) to replace 2 out of 4 screws that come with the rodblocks for the insides halves (only) to fasten the strap  like I did below. Keep in mind I do have the stalks maxed out, so if you have a big head, this may not work for you.

I just received a pair of PS1000 cans, used for £600. Something I didn't notice in the photos on eBay was a little nub on the outside of the left ear. I've looked at many photos online and none of them have this. Is it a mod or repair? What? I'm worried although they sound bloody amazing so...
