They look weird more than anything else, but DAMN that sapphire cup is pretty.
I'd consider a pair, but I don't want to be renamed Locutus.

They're also unobtainium, so you probably wouldn't find a pair anyways.
Here's my re-cabled HP-50A. I used the stock wires from the Left cup to the Right cup.
Kapton Gold looks nice with these headphones.
I damped with the stock open cell foam and a disk of 4 mm dense, soft wool felt. Sounds great.
Thanks nick n!
No screws. Snap tabs hold the baffle to the cup.
Stock open cell foam damping. That's it.
Left channel on left; Right channel on right. Stock Mono wiring.
Re-cabled for stereo with navships (ebay seller) using 26 AWG
Kapton insulated SPC multi-stranded wire - 4 wires are braided.
Thick (4mm) dense, soft wool felt damping over stock open
cell foam on the inside. It was a tight fit with the felt and
larger wires.
The Kapton wire is microphonic so I'll be looking for a soft
sheath.
Pads are in great shape. They're secured with double-sided
tape cut from a large sheet. The tape seals the access
openings for the snap tabs.
^Very nice mod! Great that it sounds nice to you too
Welp, there's a YH-1000 on ebay.com...
...but it's listed for $1899...
Stop. Stop posting links to or even talking about stuff that's in an active eBay listing. Its a gigantic middle finger to anyone who may be eyeballing the auction.
The only reason I posted it is because the price is sp high that no one will be crazy enough to buy it.
