We have a few items on hand, but nothing has started yet. The i5 charging LED problem and the battery reading issues are on the to-do list right now.

A quick question for the those who are familiar with the Orange County/LA area.

Since we are flying all the way to the West coat from China, we want to spend a day or two after the show to check out the HeadFi shops in Orange County and LA area, kind of to understand the marketplace and feel the atmosphere of the hobby in a more "regular" tone. Can someone suggest the shops that we should visit? Portable is our primarily concern but any reputable headfi shop will serve the purpose.

If you are using Cayin N5 only, I'll advice you stick with exFAT for regular music playback and keep a small card (4G or 8G) in FAT32 for firmware upgrade, that will be the most efficient arrangement.

If you were to hop around and trying out new DAPs as they show up, stick with FAT32 all the way, this will minimize incompatibility problem with new models. The biggest problem with FAT32 is not performance but the limitation to hold big file (4GB or above), occasionally there are some SACD-ISO file will go beyond this limit, but very occasionally to the best of my knowledge.

You know I have been as transparent as possible with the Cayin community in HeadFi, unfortunately this is a tough time that we really have to "wait and see". We are working very hard on the Engineering sample right now, we run into some technical problem that it takes a lot longer than expected before we can iron it out, we are very close to that now.

Well, USB 3.1-C based product has hit the market, but Windows 10 still stick with USB Audio Class 1.0, that's why we need to install USB driver when using Windows, iOS and Linux support USB Audio Class 2.0 long time ago and you can plug in your DAP without worrying about the driver issue.

On the other hand, audiophile DAP is a niche market with very limited production when compare to other mobile/3C products. Sure latest MCU are very powerful, but they are out of reach to DAP manufacturer because of the MOQ issue. So looks like FAT32 will be around for a while in DAP market.

Hi Andy, I just would like to mention that Fidue recently released universal mmcx SPC cable (the same wires and finish as their original A83 cable), and this particular cable is terminated with 2.5mm TRRS (standard A&K wiring) and comes with 2.5mm TRRS to 3.5mm TRRS (HFM wired) adapter.  I know, the whole thing cost $59 and some might prefer adapter alone, but the cable itself is a very high quality and great for those who use mmcx connector based IEMs (Westone, Shure, UE, Fidue, Oriveti, etc), and you get the coverage of both 2.5mm TRRS and 3.5mm TRRS balanced connections.

This one is definitely properly wired and supports both balanced standards.

Unfortunately, I think the adapter is "the other way round" from what we are currently discussing.

We have a few friends trying to use HiFiman 3.5mm balanced headphone with N5,, so they need an adapter cable that is 3.5mm female TRRS (HiFiman terminated) to 2.5mm male TRRS (Cayin/AK/Paw5000 terminated).

From what I understand, the adapter from Fidue is a 2.5mm female TRRS to 3.5mm male TRRS, am I correct?

I just got this Extreme Audio adapter from Amazon, $24.95, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AFEBR4I/ - and that's exactly what your customers were looking for to connect their HFM balanced 3.5mm TRRS to 2.5mm TRRS HO.
 
I just tested it with RE600 which is 3.5mm TRRS terminated, and it works like a charm with 2.5mm TRRS output of N5   The description of the product on Amazon is a little misleading because they are saying it can connect any standard 3.5mm to 2.5mm 4-pole - that is a wrong description.  There is no point of connecting a standard 3.5mm TRS because L/R grounds are tied together.  But this adapter 100% works with HiFiMAN wired 3.5mm TRRS to convert it to 2.5mm TRRS (A&K style wiring).
