I'm actually listening to them now - straight out of my NFB-12, and using Darin Fong's Out Of Your Head software.  Quite surreal.  Really pleasant.

Brooko, You're listening to the KEFS? Honestly Hype or real? They are strange enough looking, but I have qualms about whether they will fit.

What happened to the gym type fit discussion? Can we actually use the Hyperion for that? Maybe not ideal but maybe?

like i said earlier, it's being discussed with bob offline (albeit it's likely not a high priority for bob right now as the kickstarter's his main focus).  it's likely to be either a new product after kickstarter or a separate kickstarter itself, though.

personally, i've found for gym use that an over-ear fit with memory wire works best at keeping them in place, and having a short cord with an inline control plus an extension gives the most flexibility in terms of how i can use it.  bob's currently looking into the viability of memory wire on the current kickstarter run (so that may or may not appear depending on viability) and the inline control looks like it may happen given how long there is to run and how close it is to hitting the £75k stretch target to provide them.

of what's available on the kickstarter, i'd probably say the hyperion are small and light enough that they'd probably do the trick pretty well, despite not being specifically gym engineered (much like the prevalence of shure se215 at gyms - they're not gym gear, but they're pretty well suited to it).  if the memory wire appears too, then i'd say they'd be a very good bet (and i'll be ordering another pair to try in the gym myself).  the over-ear fit of the techne would likely be more secure, but the risk with those is that the filters could theoretically come loose.

ultimately, though, it depends on what you do in the gym that would determine their suitability.  if you use an arm holder you'll have a lot of cable to deal with as it's a normal length cable.  if waist-mounted, the extra weight of the cable plus your movement could easily pull them out of your ears.  if you're running/rowing/doing martial arts, then you'll definitely need the more secure fit that memory wire would provide, unless you go and get custom ear moulds made - probably overkill for gym use, though.  in fairness, you may find a decent foam tip would be enough to give you a secure fit with such a light headphone as the hyperion.

Nope - the Deltas

In That case I hope you are going to tell me they have become your Goto's even more than the Fidues....

I use both about equally - along with the Titans (rotate between the three).  Hadn't been using the A83 for a while while I review the Alclair Curve - but went for a 10km walk/jog yesterday and took the A83 with me.  Surprised (again) how good it is.

Put it this way - the Delta doesn't feel out of place alongside the A83 and Titan.  Like the Titan, it punches way above it's price point

Brooko, would you say the Deltas complement the Titans? I just ordered the Titans and was thinking I would only keep 1 of the two, but may end up keeping both if they are complementary.

Really interesting question.

The two share a very similar sound signature / tonality - Titan has a bit more lift in the upper end, Delta is a bit smoother sounding.  Titan also sounds a little wider in stage, but is more open - where the Delta isolates better.  Titan really ahs to be worn cxable down (for most comfort), Titan can be worn up or down.

So there is a bit of contrast in design, fit, and isolation - but I'd say they are more similar than different with sound.

If I was going to just keep one though - I would personally find that choice very difficult.

Cool, thanks for the response. Looks like it will be a tough decision if I do get rid of one, made a bit easier by getting a great deal on both though. The good deal also makes it easier to keep both. O.o

I have pledged for the Hyperion and i would not want to have any inline control or any adapter to connect between the cable as it will add-in additional weight on the already very light Hyperion.

But i do hope that there will be color coded on the strain so as to differentiate between Left and Right as etching on the earphone housing might not be able to see it on the very small Hyperion and also spoil the beauty of the Hyperion. Lastly, a slider glide on the Y-cable so as it can slide up to tighten it and probably a over-the-ear cable guides like this http://www.meelec.com/MEElectronics_Over_the_Ear_Cable_Guides_p/ep-cableguide-cl.htm as well but if that not feasible is fine as i can still buy it through MeElectronics.

Bob has already confirmed:
  1. If they reach stretch goal, inine controls will eb added as an option - they won't be compulsory
  2. Strain relief on housings will be made more robust and colour coded for easy ID - L and R
  3. There will be a cinch above the Y split

At this stage I don't think over ear guides will be included, and that's not a bad thing as many will want to wear these cable down.

So 3 out of 4 ticked

That's good to hear it. Over-the-ear glides is fine as not everyone will want it. And i can just purchase it online/offline. Great to hear it and thanks for the update....

Now all that's left is to await delivery.. and to get the Techne right of course.
