1. Yes, rooting would not harm the device's capacity to make full use of its DAC.
2. Why do you ask?

how about poweramp can it output files at 192/24 bit on fiio x7

and if i root and use v4a will i also be able to output 192/24bit

No, poweramp stays at 44.1kHz whatever the sample rate of the file played. In any event someone here complained that it couldn't even play a 24/192 file properly...

And V4A must work at the Android sample rate, in this case 44.1kHz.

i am so sorry to ask , so when i connect my mojo to android note 3 rooted and use poweramp and v4a will i not be able to output 192/24bit or is that different compared to fiio x7

if you use a program/app on the X7 to play that audio, and you do not use HiBy or the FiiO app, it will not use anything over 44.1kHz.

this is android related.

Hello hykhleif,

You won't be able to output 24/192 and be able to use V4A whatever phone / player you use.

i got when u mention about fiio x7

but you say no phone or player outputs 24/192, i am just confused now, as i thought that i can get an output of 24/192 when i use for example chord mojo and onkyo hf player, so why does the light colour change on mojo from different file rates when i use onkyo hf player. Or do u mean just with v4a and android players

honestly i am totally confused now

both android and iOS (without a doubt windows phone too, but who uses that?) don't output anything above 320kbps. FiiO wrote a way around this, and some others might have too, but almost all android/ios/wp devices will not do anything higher than 320kbps. neither will the devices that can, if you use an app not made to work with this.

Wut? You mean 320kbps mp3s? No

If you replaced 320kbps in the above with 44.1 or 48kHz sample rate (depending on the particular Android and phone build) then you would be about correct. :xf_eek:

i read documentation on this way back when the iphone 4 was still the coolest thing to have, which stated that the iphone downsamples to 320kbps. maybe things have changed, but i sort of doubt that.

I don't think it makes any sense to make a lossy compressed format the system audio format, it would introduce processing overhead to every audio transaction. In any case it's not what the X7 or Android does.

So. Here are my quick and dirty impressions with the X7.

The treble is spacious and lean. It's more towards analytical and articulately sharp, rather than scratchy and fuzzy.

Bass is present and strong, especially when songs call for it. Unlike other DAPS.

THIS is this first ever DAP I haven't felt the need to EQ.

Can't wait for the amps. This is worth investing money in. The more you have it. The more you appreciate and understand the improvement.

I have a few questions about the X7. In poweramp, the next/previous song buttons seem to be reversed but for the Fiio music player they work as they should. Is there a way to fix this? Also when I am in dac mode, regardless it shows 24 bits even when it is 16. Is there a way to get the dac mode screen to show the correct information?

Very sorry, the both answer are NO.

Yes and no, sort of.

If you connect an external USB DAC to X7, such as Mojo in this case, and you run an app that has its own USB driver (instead of relying on X7's USB driver), then the app is capable of outputting over 16/44.1.

Right now, only USB Audio Player Pro (*USB Tweak 1 selected) and Hiby has no problem. Onkyo HR Player is not working correctly. However, as far as I can tell, none of them is able to play DSD correctly.
