Chord Hugo

The picture of Al's looks to be what I have in the Hugo that I received today. S/N 22099.

Looking at the serial numbers.. Chord must be selling a lot these days. Glad to know I'm not the only audio nutter out there. :D

Edit: Actually I'm glad that they have succeeded with their first portable product, and hope that they are planning to stay ahead and continue to develope state of the art portable stuff.
(just have a little peak at head-fi.org and I know that I am not alone.. don't need Chord for that)

Personally I think both Rudi & Al's look the same - it is just a case of bad photo.

Yes, maybe.

Where did you guys, with the newest new edition, buy it? I was going to order from Custom Cable but I don't want the semi-new edition.

We don't yet know if there really is more than one revision. There may actually be only one revision.

It would be nice for Rob to chime-in and clarify about this.

It's also worth noting that Hugos are selling like hotcakes, so the chances of any old stock still being in regular retail channels is relatively slim (Custom Cable, in the UK, have some old chassis stock, but they're specifically retailing it seperately (& at a discount) from the new chassis stock, so my point still stands)

We are also now retailing never used products with the latest chassis but may have some slight cosmetic imperfections at £1199

There has been two different chassis that Chord have supplied. Original and modified(slightly larger rca space) that's it. From what I know the picture v1 is possibly a pre production image.

I'm trying to see if the toslink in the 2nd image looks different only because of a dummy plug being inserted, or if the different shape is actually the chassis cutout for the socket, but it's not clear enough.

My gut instinct is that it may be a round socket with a square dummy plug inserted, in which case, V2 and V3 would actually be the same version, after all.

Damn... That's a real nice price for sure. Since its new, full warranty I assume?

I think I know about the different metalwork versions. I spoke to Matt at chord back in February. He told me that they had about five hundred cases part machined and they couldn't bring in the final version that needed the lid screws moving to allow for the larger RCAs. Because until the huge amount of semi processed hugely expensive metalwork had been used. This was done in two steps depending on how far the blanks had been processed. This is now way back in time though and they've been making the present final version since the end of March with many hundreds produced.
