I nearly put my bh2 up for sale when I bought the c5 but have changed my mind every single time. I think I'll keep both for now because honestly I enjoy dx50/c5 too but not as much as the bH
Combo. And also I'm sure the c5 will be useful if I purchase another pair of iem or a new player.

Im not really sure whats the sound difference between the 2amps since I only have BH2. All I know is they both pair well with DX50. I choose BH2 because of its soundstage and battery life.

For the looks. I just dont like C5 because of its volume pot. I prefer volume pots like the BH2 and RSA or ALO amps have..

Been enjoying my DX50 the past few weeks, especially with the latest version of Rockbox.  I think it has excellent synergy with my TDK BA200 and InEar StageDiver 3 (and I suspect the SD2 for that matter) for those who have heard either of these combos.  I know a few people have said it's not the best match with the RE-400, but I've been trying a few different things with my pair to see if I can tune it a bit to pair better.

So, I had some felt dampers (among other materials) between the stock hifiman filter and the stock nozzle foam which effectively cuts down everything above 1kHz by 1-3dB (like what Rin did in thought 2 here: http://rinchoi.blogspot.com/2013/03/hifiman-re-400-evolution-or-devolution.html) which seems to work well depending on the tip selection (in this case I was using the wire bore, double bump tips primarily).  In it's stock configuration now (no extra damping material) I was playing around with different tips today including some newly acquired Ortofon silicones.  I'd say just these tips alone are a pretty good match as well but I will be trying out them + various damping materials to see if it changes for the better, but so far I'm liking what I hear.  It's a different presentation than what the other IEMs give but I like this variation for some genres.  Anyone else using the RE-400 with their DX50?

"For the looks. I just dont like C5 because of its volume pot" is exactly what I didn't like about the BH.  I much prefer the wheel on the C5 because I'm walking with it, and I found that the sticking-up volume control on the BH was not as easy to work with as the rolling dial one on the C5.  I also liked the sound better with the C5/Colorfly C3 pairing (I replaced and then sold my BH) and carried the C5 over to the DX50.  I like the way it looks (the sizes and colors match) and the way the volume control operates, and I love the sound I get with the DX50 LineOut into the C5.  I run everything "flat," no gain, bass boost or eq, and it gives me a really nice full sound without being too boomy.  The C5 just seems like it has a more robust sound than the BH, which I liked very much.  With the C3 it was wonderful, very pristine sound, but when I swapped out for the C5 the sound, with my music and my ears and my iems, got "better."

I really think there is no real "better" or "best," as all of us are different and listen to different things, well, differently.

Well if you're going to use an amp with the Dx50 I see no reason why you'd want to use the HO instead of LO . From what I've read using the HO of the dx50 with an external amp is "double amping".so for best result LO is highly recommended.

Can anybody could tell me the differences between using the dx50 HO and adding an, for example, bh2, e12 amp? The sonic differences using in-ears of 32-36ohms

The internal amp of DX50 (HO) tends to be lacking in clarity, detail and drive authority especially with CIEMs. The reason most people use an external amp is to bypass the internal amp and connect DX50 to an amp via LO

I guess you got me wrong, HEADWHACKER answer me a little bit. My comparison I asked was:
Dx50 via HO with dynamic and BA iems?
Dx50 via LO with something like iBasso e12 and the same iems?

To my ears the HO has good sound, but what would be the differencs you hear between only HO and an external amp (e12 is quite easy to get buy via mp4nafion for me)
:)

Only you will know if you like the sound you get.  As you can see, some here like the BH amp and others like the C5 amp.  Others like different amps, or no amp.  It really depends on a variety of things, including your ears, your equipment, and the types of music you listen to.

Is it strange that I prefer the DX50 sound to the DX90?
