I see, I see. So it's basically a transportable rig that's not great for the purpose that you wanted it to excel in; yea, that's understandable. I can see how you would prefer the DX90 to the DX50 + 6SMKII and that to the iPod + M8. Basically an upgrade in portability each step while not sacrificing sound quality at all.

Yes that's exactly the idea.  At least this early I can tell you that DX90 alone is at least at the same level if not better SQ-wise compared to my DX50+RB+UHA-6SMKII.

Although not as powerful as the UHA-6SMKII, DX90 alone is good enough to drive my Beyerdynamic T1. I have a UHA-4 and the amp in DX90 is more powerful. I had a C5D and it could not drive my T1 to an acceptable level which is why I sold it. The UHA-4 will be going FS soon.

So if you look at it DX90, is much like a DX50 with a powerful amp built in. The improvement due to the DAC maybe subjective but the improvement in the amp section is undeniable and to me is well worth the upgrade to DX90 especially if like me, you are already tired or carrying a stack.

I'm using iems only, so power isn't really an issue for me off the headphone out.  I find that the DX50 and C5 combo fit in my carrying bag perfectly.  I don't like to carry a player in my pocket, I've had cables/jacks crimp/break doing it that way.  And I'm not using the DX50 in my home theater setup, I've got an Oppo 103 to play hard media with.

I don't have a speaker setup at home and not planning to get one. I use headphones at home and ciems outside. DX90 will serve both scenarios just fine for me. Soon as DX90 USB DAC function works I can just hook it up to my Mac and use it as a source. I like my desk to be neat with minimum cable clutter and I don't like the sight of  bulky amp/component stack on my desk.

And I can't bring a bag while jogging.

No support of mp3 and 4 etc? Why?

The new 1.2.8 player conflicts with the old binary file. I need the source code of this binary file to fix it. Unfortunately iBasso doesn't want to cooperate with me despite my numerous requests.

Does anyone have any info on how a pair of DN-1000's will do with an ibasso DX50? I am curious to buying one but it might be a bit out of my price range. I am not looking to pre-amp it or anyhting, just the dunus straight into the jack and that's it.. Does the player do well with just a pair of iem's?
