As a side note, i just switched out the cables from my jvc 850s to the 846s, these things are now KILLER! So much more lush and organic now and kept all the clarity.

Anyone know what the difference between these cables are?

I believe the SE846's stock cable is a nickel-plated copper of sorts, while the your JVCs have an OFC (oxygen-free copper) cable. I'm not aware of the properties of the OFC cable, but it might just be a better than the Shure's stock cable. Please note that many of the SE846 owners on the forums are using aftermarket cables of their own, which further enhances the SE846. I'm personally using a OCC Silver Litz cable, which opens up the sound stage, tightens up the bass, and enhances clarity at the loss of a little bass quantity. Moedawg is another person who's using this cable. The are also members who are using OCC copper cables, which focuses on enhancing the lower spectrum. If you would like to read more into OCC and OFC cables, I've attached a link below.

Edited: The SE846's cable is SPC (silver plated copper) Kevlar reinforced, silver colored, nickel-plated copper.  I agree with the rest of the post as well.

Really? Where did you find out?

From the virtual ink of a response email - Shure's Product Manager.  However, after going through the past emails between the Product Manager and myself, the cable is silver colored, but is Kevlar-reinforced, nickel-plated copper that is only offered for the SE846, but can be purchased as a replacement cable (EAC46CLS [46”] or EAC64CLS [64”])  for any Shure model that is MMCX compatible (SE215, 315, 425, 535[LTD], 846).

Ah, so it is nickel-plated copper then?

The Chord Hugo makes my 846 sounds much smoother and more refined. So I thought, 'hmm... maybe I can use the whites on these?'

And so I did- finally, I'm hearing the extra extension and details that everyone is talking about with these filters. Wow.

It's kind of like when I let my wrestlers take me down and they're like "I took down the coach!"

Absolutely loved the Hugo, paired with the Silver Litz, modded black and SCS.  On another level of auditory enjoyment.  Smooth as butter.

Sadly, a purchase as big as the Chord Hugo is out of the question for me at the moment.

I know, I was just giving another reason why I wouldn't sleep with them on.

The sound is intimate and powerful to ever put me to sleep. lol

All this talk about sleep and the se846...can't help but chime in.  I have woken up with these in my ears and music playing far too many times.  But then again, I often fall asleep sitting down, curled up on the floor, and every possible position in between (once, even spread out on the landing of the stairs - no alcohol involved - promise!).  Fact is when you don't get enough of the good REM stuff, it's amazing where (and how easily) the zzzz's take over.
As they say, YMMV
