Sweet Sean!!!

It is interesting to understanding the reasons as to why FitEar advises ear impressions done the way they prescribe as the seal is not reliant on the canals, but only the outer portion of the IEM. The stem is cut shorter than most other customs and generally a looser more comfortable fit is obtained and the reason they can have a little flap to aid taking them off quickly. The closed mouth required when they inject the mold and the mouth movements to avoid any part of the stem hitting sensitive parts in side the ear canal, is all so cleverly thought out.

Very rare to have fit issues with FitEar customs.

I had thought very hard about using the FitEar method of ear impressions when I did some for the SE5 yesterday but decided against and relied upon using my thumb as a bite block and done the more usual way.............

Grzegorz asks SE-5 customers to have ear impressions done with mouth closed, without a bite block...

I think if one was to give the whole matter more thought and research, then one will eventually find what should be perfect for them.

Back to the 335, how are they Sean compared to the 334 if memory serves you?

Silicone is not the same as acrylic, but then you know that.

Well, good luck to you; I hope your SE-5s fit you well.

OT: I'm out having a burrito with my son :). Will be back later to give my thoughts on the 335 vs what I remember of the 334.

seal is reliant on the canals, and actually the canals play the most critical role here since the part beyond 1st bend is more elastic than the aperture of the canals. http://www.audiologyonline.com/articles/ear-impressions-art-or-science-1186
I'm not entirely sure about FitEar's logic for taking closed jaw impressions with jaw movement during the process. It's more of a school of thought in the industry than an actual fact that has been confirmed with research that which one is better than the other. Apparently those who prefer jaw movement believe that with jaw moving around high viscosity impression material will flow better and more thoroughly inside the canals, ensuring the best replica of the outer ear, though I doubt that's the case with FitEar.

Grats! :D Can't wait to hear what you'll say about those bad boys :)

Also there's nothing like a DX100-MH335DW... I'm only realizing that now...

I think this is the case for FitEar as this is what they rely upon for the seal. Bearing in mind, FitEar are hearing aid and tooth makers before earphones....

I'm gonna need to spend more time listening before commenting on its sound however despite listening to the demos on numerous occasions. There are many others here who are older MH335DW owners here who have gone mostly quiet in enjoyment presumably? V0's got a great review out of which I hope to participate in.

As for fit, I have had only UM Merlin's & SE530x8 in the past of which neither seal as well as this! The seal is so perfect in terms of comfort & isolation that I had a taxi bumper come right up to my knee & I didn't hear it coming just now. It's actually to the point of dangerous :).

My apologies if that last line was misleading, I wasn't questioning FitEar's technique. My point was that there might be another purpose for taking closed moving jaw impressions that only Suyama-san knows other than the common belief among audiologists.

V0,

Have you got your TG!334 back yet? If you could please do a test for me. Maybe my new 001 stock cable isn't really burnt in yet but I find a bigger improvement of 001/MH335DW -> balanced 000/MH335DW than 001/TG!334 -> balanced 000/TG!334.

Or the MH335DW just leverages on the 000 cable more than the TG!334.

This is off the -dB/balanced IC/SR-71b and with Rx Mk3.

Its with a friend I can get in touch with quickly. I'll check but I believe the MH335DW does leverage 000 better than the 334...
