The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..

I agree with Blue Boat, the way OP conducted the thread gives the illusion that these $10 buds will provide SQ of a 300+ iem or headphone. Theres are $7 for a reason and exaggerations on some of these FOTM phones are quite deceiving and sad. I have jumped on the SM3s, DBA02s, and UM3X bandwagon a while back and while the DBAs lived up the hype and remain my top 3 fav universal iems, the other two were grossly exaggerated in terms of performance, especially the SM3s to my ears. I will be getting GR07s in december and see myself if it indeed lives up to the hype.

@ Blue Boat. Noticed I said. HEADPHONE?. .See I am not one to just talk spam to make other think oh gawsh these earphones must sound like $400 IEMs. I didn't say earphones I said headphones.  I own higher end HEADPHONEs you know the ones you throw on your head and not in the ear. I should have worded that better. Noticed I compared the sound from these monoprice with a D2000 and a HFI-580 in the beginning of the thread? You guys won't believe it as no one with any type of common sense will but these monoprice 8320 with a proper seal with the right tracks has the same clarity musicality and level of sound dynamics as any of my headphones at that level of cost..That sounds crazy but to my ears, time and time again I keep on thinking there is no way these sound this good.. But they do..Out of my own astonishment and how cheap they are that is why I made this thread..Do these replace my favorite headphones? No but I get just as much enjoyment out of them and that alone is a crazy thought.

I am talking on sheer sound that my headphones emit vs these monoprice.. For a sub $10 iem to emit this level of sound to me is just astonishing and the sole reason why I started this thread. You don't have to believe it. I don't expect any one here to. But that is exactly what has happened for me. I am not tricking no one. You guys are all grown ups. Decide for yourselves if these are worthy.

Not good enough.

Thanks to the others who don't see this as trolling or whatever.

@SoundFreaq I only hope that those who are completely new to headphones/iems altogether (i'm new to iems) know to take these FOTM/giant killer threads with as much salt as necessary. And I agree with you, it is irresponsible to exaggerate claims of how much a certain budget headphone/iem is worth. I don't look down on those with low budgets (I've spent a total of $500 so far, which is peanuts compared to others) but if you want quality, sometimes you got to pay the price.

@Dsnuts I'm sure you've tried a lot of high-end and expensive headphones and I'm sure you own an audio shop as well. So you might want to word your sentences carefully because they're very misleading. Just to name some headphones in the $300 range:- HD 600, AKG K701, Hifiman HE300, Sennheiser HD25. Also, you might wanna write some of the negatives regarding the 8320s along with the upsides if you're doing this to help out the community.

Thanks Dsnuts,

I'm glad I joined this community when I did. I picked up a pair of these low cost headphones. Now, I don't have much experience with headphones; however, I have had my fair share speakers. Thanks again for introducing these.

I don't understand why D's is getting hate. He has shown us a cheap IEM that performs much higher than it's price would indicate. I don't expect a $7 IEM to outperform $400 IEM's I'm pretty sure nobody in this thread "expects" that. As I said in my review, I would gladly pit them against $50 IEM's. You won't see them go up against my nice Grado's or my TF10's with Lune cable or my um3x's (when they get in).

I think if any claims were made about cheap $7 IEM's beating out high dollar earbuds they were exaggerated. They may not be that good, but they are very good for the money, and in the end I think that's what matters and I'm really glad D's shared them with us.

If you don't like what somebody else is doing for the community maybe you should do something and see how it goes. What comes around goes around, treat everyone how you would like to be treated.

Nobody hates Dsnuts, overhyping is the problem. There are many lousy $30 - $50 ones out there; there are also many excellent $10 - $20 ones. What is the reason pushing one over another? Dsnuts can make a big detailed list for everything he has experienced, so new members can have a clear idea about his taste and his judgements.

If he truly did these things for the community, why didn't he tell everyone the Panasonics had terrible build quality?
And why didn't he say that it was hard to get a good seal with the 8320s? He did say it would rival $300 headphones.
He did say "I've never heard a better sounding iem." He even posted the WTFmonkey picture in this thread.
i.e He generated a lot of hype.

I'm just looking at this from the third person right now.

If you wrote a review, you would list the pros and cons, right? You wanna be fair, because you're just trying to spread
the knowledge. But only the pros get said in the opening post. Cons get mentioned 10+ pages in. But not a single ____
was given. Nomsayin` ?

I'm done with this thread.

Gnight.

While I do agree with you that the OP seems to be too enthusiastic and somewhat pushing exaggeration to it's limits, I do think iems have a better chance at being so called 'giant killers'. Although, the words '$300' '$400' being mentioned in the same sentence probably should be avoided, I believe that the OP has no intention of doing anything bad at all. He's just trying to share his discovery and his delivery is a little controversial, that's all.

I, myself am in a similar position where I want everyone in the world to hear a pair of Xears TDII@$40. I have sold much of my iem inventory(a couple in the $100~$150) after buying the TDII (not the TDIII). I'm not hoping that the monoprice 'phones will do that much magic, but at its price, who cares? Can't be any worse than buying $10~$20 skullcandies. (I like the Aviators though)

Na no worries guys its all good. I can take my share of criticism I suppose when I show enthusiasm for a product it may sound like I am making them seem like giant killers. I promise I won't do that again.  I understand what you are saying. I apologize to the guys that get irritated by my post or don't like the way I do things around here. Your points are valid. I will update the negatives on the thread. In the mean while going off of a suggestion earlier I think I found a good solution to a proper fit issue with these. Kinda loosely based on the suggestion of Cotelio and his link on how to improve the isolation. One of the main issues with these earphones. The stock earphone tip is not only loose but the flimsy rubber type.. I will tell you guys to get the full sounds on these the fit is everything. The ear plugs I bought cost around $3.00 or so for a box of them. I first tried making a tip with one and that failed miserably but what did work is this.  I made a ring cushion to fit the stem of the tip.I just cut the bottom end of a a squishy ear plug and made it into a donut shape, make sure your donut hole is smaller than the stem of the tip. I threw them all together and this is what you get. Not only better seal so you get the full sound but notice it sits secure now on the tip of the earphone and not all the way down it. This will help in comfort level and sound level. Try it out..The foam donut cut out put pressure into the flimsiness of the stock or any standard rubber tip and sits secure on the tip of the 8320.  Now that the driver end don't sit into my ears. Way better comfort..

Mine was "delivered" 3 days ago. Got lost in mail. And now Monoprice is sold out. Of course. Of course. Of course.

My prediction of them selling out lightening fast because of Head-fi, and them becoming a scarce commodity happened. I never thought I would be one to be totally screwed over.

Y'all enjoy.

Wow, you guys rock! Thanks Lurkumaural and Dsnuts for both offering to send me a pair. Dsnuts has an extra so I'll snag a pair from him. This is what makes this community great.

Looks like I am back in the ball game, after a slight delay!

I lol'ed at this part. Is the "WTFmonkey" picture sacred or something? Is it reserved for only the extreme upper echelon of iems? By posting that WTFmonkey picture you duped hundreds of people into buying these. Right when they saw that they were like lemmings.

Hey you guys don't like my monkey?

I think the monkey pic pretty much sums up this thread lol.

I really like the hybrid tips you made Dsnuts, I made a pair myself for my DBA02s with decored olives inside and the isolation is excellent, better than just the foam itself

That was my original title. The official What thread. haha Hey so I have a sense of humor.. This tip mod is awesome guys. I have been using these tips after I threw in the extra foam and I have to say this is exactly what these needed. I think what leads to discomfort the most is the cold driver housing that sits in your ear. I noticed with this little mod that it don't sit so flush in my ear any more and I hardly notice the driver now.  You can get these same foam ear plug tips I used at your local hardware store and can get a pair for maybe a $1.50.  Worth a try.

SoundFreaq. It is in the mail.
