THE best female vocals? (your favorite female singers)

Br777, there's something slightly familiar to me about Agnes Obel's voice. She's quite quirky - I think o2 (cellular network) may have used one of her tracks in an advert on British TV, but I may be off the mark there.

If I have any further insight on this, I'll repost, but that's about as much as I can recall at the moment.

^ Ruth Moody is a member of "The Wailin Jenny's"  whose videos i have posted here before.. they're all great singers/musicians.

i lean more towards instrumental music so vocals, male or female, aren't really something that i pay much attention to.  that said, there are two female voices that i love:

- Margo Timmons
- Aoife O'Donovan

Aha, you posted while I was exploring Youtube and editing my previous post! LOL

Yeah, I didn't see your original recommendation of the Wailin' Jennys (which is a pity), so sorry about that. I do really like those voices!

Amy Lee(Evanescence). I'd recommend the Fallen cd. Sarah Mclachlan - Mirrorball cd. Dido - Life for Rent and Safe Trip Home. Adele - 21 and Live from Albert Hall. Norah Jones. Cheryl Crow. Without a doubt Diana Krall, Jane Monheit, Kelly Sweet and Eva Cassidy.

ok, I admit it, I have a soft spot for irish music.  I love the accent, I love the melodies, and the instruments, and I love irish women.

when they sound this good in 240, you know they've got it.

I've probably posted Mimi Page before, but she's just picking up steam and since she's so damn good she deserves another plug!

she does a lot of electronic music too like in the last video of this post

I usually listen to music with male vocals ,but lately I have been listening to St. Vincent and Kimbra - Both are pretty fantastic singers.
Annie Erin Clark's (St. Vincent) voice reminds of Beth Gibbons', which is nice.

Bird Song (Heather Masse and Aoife O'Donovan) and 'May I Suggest' (Red Molly) have been on non-stop repeat on my Galaxy S2 for the past 24 hours. Beautiful harmonies. I really like the version of Bird Song above, too, still with Heather Masse on lead vocals, of course, since (if I'm not mistaken) she wrote it.

Still listening to the Puppini Sisters, too, since they have beautiful harmonies, too, albeit in a different, non-roots, style
