Give these guys a shout:

I highly recommend them. I bought my first IEM with them on eBay (marcopoloca) a while ago (Shure E3C). I already paid for my preorder with them on the Westone 3. I keep in touch with them every other month.

They will most likely put an auction on the 3s when they are about to release.

Hmmms...

May I ask to the TS which month he expects the Westone 3's to go retail?

Just naming a month would make me very happy (October, November I can wait for, but December is too long).

Thanks in advance!

...would love to. I have not been given a date yet, nor the "OK" to post a timeframe.

I'm sure its been asked before, but when are the Westone 3's ACTUALLY coming out! Not that I can REALY afford them currently, but my UE super.fi 5's were stolen months ago, and I need new earcandy. I have been waiting on these phones for eons now, when can I finally overextend my budget in the name of audiophilia!

Not to sound rude, but did you actually read the post JUST above yours?

It's way too thin and fragile. I mean - I have to worry about the cord of the Um1's every time i put my ipod in my pocket.

The fix for this is to stop worrying, or to try out a competitor's IEMs. The thin Westone cable is a godsend, and a lot more durable than you'd think. The cables on UEs and Shures are thick and heavy. They mess with your seal and have a ton of microphonics. The Westone cable I don't even notice most of the time, until I snag it on something, and then I get to marvel at the fact that I've snagged it so many times and it's still never been damaged.

Yeah, it's funny, the only complaints I've heard about Westone's cable come from people freaking out that it might break ... I don't think I've ever heard of one actually breaking! Maybe once...
I'd venture to say that, based upon all the posts I've seen, Westone cables hold up the best. They are durable, lightweight, and produce very low microphonics. The only problem seems to be people are continually underestimating them. Not to mention the 3s come with a two year warranty.

Looks can be deceiving... Those cables are about the best cables you can have on an in-ear earphones.

If it is such a big change that it cant get released until mid/late summer as ppl say, how the heck did Westone not see this ahead of time?

Hey everyone this is something that really caught us off guard. Believe me we feel bad about it. We want you to get the new product as bad as you want them.
I will be in close contact with our dealers over the next few weeks until this gets hammered out.
One thing to remember is that as a manufacturer we depends on suppliers to provide us with goods in a timely matter. Things can happen outside of our control and we do our best to catch them in time.
All we ask for is your patience and understanding in this matter.
If you want to vent, please do it to me in a PM, not a posting.

Thank-you.

If you want to think bad you would believe there is something serious wrong with the Westone 3.

Maybe they couldn't deliver enough to justify $400 in their eyes and are still trying to improve it as we speak?

I don't know, all I know is that it really takes hell of a lot longer than anyone expected!

They are not making changes, they are just trying to get the production line setup to build these in quantity without problems.

I heard you'll be able to roll drivers, trying different combinations like 2-treble 1-bass, triple mids, two bass-1 treble, etc. You just have to send your phones back to Westone/Xin, it's free of charge, but you won't see them for another year...
