Any chance of a closer comparison betweeg 2001 and 2000J? The latter impressed me with its crispness and precision, but after a while I just missed a bit of warmth.

Could you elaborate? I've been considering the Cupid and just got the tape, which strikes me as rather bright and thin.

Don't forget the LZ A4! It's a bit airier than the B400 and with the right filters it has more sparkle too.

I had the same problem and solved it by slicing a couple of millimetres off the stems.

Trying out different tips is pretty essential here. The stock tips coated everything in warm sauce for me, but SpinFits made the sound more open and crisp. Anyone missing treble presence needs to look into different options.

I'd encourage anyone who finds the treble too muffled or rolled-off to try SpinFits. I've never been a fan in the past, but here I find them perfect (after slightly shortening the stems) because they add just a little air and light without impairing the smoothness that makes the B400 so...

On a more musical note, I finally tried out the purple filters on the Icarus and I find these the best. More balance and clarity, but still rich. I went back to the stock tips because the bit of warmth they add is no longer excessive with the purple.

I find the nozzle filters on the A4 are quite varied in this respect; to my ears, the black make the sound more open and balanced than any of the others. I find that they need wider bores than the provided tips, which make them sound too thick and bassy to my ears. I use some that I had in my supply but I don't know where they came from; the Spiral Dot would also be a good bet though. The wide bore gives a more open and balanced sound.

The front mod makes a major difference, transforming them from bass cannons into great all-rounders. The only disadvantage is that the seal is looser (and hence the isolation is even weaker).

Wearing them over the ears ameliorates the weight problem. Or are you doing that already?

What tips and spacers were you using? A number of people have found the Dunu bassier than the Altone.

UE TF10 tips have a wide bore.

The Rockets already have a very smooth sound, and I find the Comply TS tips take the punch out too much. To me the small Hifiman RE double flanges give just the right balance of body and clarity.

They kill the mids on the DN-1000, I find. Got a pair yesterday and appreciate them ergonomically, but not convinced yet sonically.
