SUQIYA DCP-1KMKII, the risk paid off!
Preamble: After being content for several years with HD800’s through my Xduoo TA-03, getting a pair of LCD-X’s required an amp that was more stable at lower impedances, and I stumbled upon this after searching “headphone amplifier class a” on aliexpress. With an intriguing description...- chillysalsa

Compression in streaming: OMG we're listening to garbage
Came across this really interesting lecture that explains what happens when the audio loudness gets compressed on uploading to a streaming services (note, that's not data compression, but the audio amplitude loudness compression). It's worth watching the whole video if you want more background...- chillysalsa

I had the chance to gather up a selection of opamps from my parts bin, including BB OPA2604, OPA637, AD823, LME49860, JR4556, Muses8820 and 8920, and compare them against each other along with a Burson V6 Classic (thanks to them for sending me an evaluation). Came across this: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F282743644276 It looks like it bears a lot of resemblances to the SPL Phonitor (120 V rail, similar front with most controls, a circuit board with a bunch of these little vertical modules/cards...- chillysalsa

Review of Breeze Audio ES9018K2M XMOS USB Bluetooth DAC

Ideal impedance of in-line attenuator
Just trying to make some interconnects that will drop my CD player output by 6 or 10 dB, since the amp gain (on the integrated amp for speakers) is pretty high and my speakers are sensitive. So I figure I will just use a simple voltage divider: in which the interconnect will have a...- chillysalsa

IE fonts are so small at high resolution!
Since reinstalling my WinXP, many fonts are super fine in IE now... for example, below the main thread titles: These show up super tiny in 1400x1050 on my 14" laptop. I know Netscape has a Font Size and DPI adjustment, but I can't change anything in IE, can I?- chillysalsa

Smoosh: she like electric
I saw their video on this MuchMusic idie music video show (The Wedge)... and, for a 12 and 10 yr old girl duo, it's some very surprisingly good pop music (with some rough edges). You can listen to horrible quality samples here: http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASI...261047-4356034- chillysalsa

Battery supply quality
I recall reading some specs. regarding Alkelines having high impedance, and this being undesirable from the point of view of supplying an amp, because of common mode noise. If so, how do NiMH and sealed lead acid compare, if we want to achieve the lowest noise? Can anyone find specs. to...- chillysalsa

Reminder of solder mechanical properties
Solder is a temperature that will undergo creep at room temperature. This is a process that is active whenever a mechanical stress is imposed typically at temperatures 0.4 of the melting point. For solder, room temperature corresponds to about 0.65 of it's melting point (455ºK) on the Kelvin...- chillysalsa

Bypass Caps
I was playing around with a certain circuit that uses a 5.1uF decoupling cap on the output, and decided to try putting a 0.01uF cap in parallel with it. It sounds like it improved the sound.
