    Perfect Wave DAC Owner Unite

Many have asked this question but, unfortunately, there is no ready to create a new PWD out of the parts left over from a DirectStream upgrade.  You need a new case, display and some other parts.  PS Audio is not supplying parts so you are on your own.

Many report break-in takes 500 hours.    Playing a variety of music and/or pink noise into a load is best.  The preamp or amp to which the DirectStream is connected need not be powered up, but the DS needs to be connected so that it is driving a load.

Whether this is too loud depends on the sensitivity of your headphones.   If you are in doubt, turn it down.

Of course you do.  But you are arguing with yourself; no one stated such an unqualified absolute.  By ignoring both the context and snipping out the bulk of my post, you have constructed a straw man - and then knocked him down.    This approach is entirely silly and unproductive.
