https://www.bequiet.com/en/casefans I use many of this company's fans with linear power supplies. Super quiet and working stable at lower voltages.

I mentioned similar back on posts 210 and 589, also ..... also one of the reviews alluded to imprinting a similar sound character.... If I was a headphone guy, I would suggest this as a pleasant alternate amp, as it seems lots of folks here have built-up an amp inventory :-) I only used mine for...

nope .... he can have it for free.... I will not sell it as is, and it's not worth the bother to get replaced/repaired .. I also think he may be pleasantly surprised.... it certainly sounds different from the Topping Pre90 !

mine is 230131, I notified Aune about the volume control problem immediately after I took delivery end October. Intended use was preamp, but incompatible with my particular setup. Purchased from an authorized dealer. The software fix seems fairly recent, but you should check with Aune, pretty...

I think it sounds pretty good, but to me, imparts a pleasant but similar character to everything... really amazing sound stage though. If you are interested, I have one at 230v with the original volume programming that you can have for free... just pay the freight from Shenzhen area....

perceptually also ... it's quite a phenomenon , I had a GPS clock with a large 10,000,00... etc readout.... waiting, and watching, for the clock to slowly stabilize and then lock into place for perfect sound was one of the most fun moments..... 😎

sorry, it's at 168. taking into account recent posts, I would think either the factory made a running change correction or there is some problem in the coding/interface that is causing variability. If they really corrected this to be in incremental 2db steps, that would be much different than...

maybe, but I don't think that it's defective. It sounds pretty good at lower levels. My first reaction (I posted already previously) of the distortion at 56+ was that I thought my tube amp was running out of steam...but.... I think it is post 158 where a distributor response is shared...

Thanks for the response.... and agree with most points, I'm not trying to be “harsh”, just disputing the claim that the problem is inherent in class A r2r designs. I actually have posted some positive comments previously. (I wonder what is really happening at the 55/56 transition... 56+ seems...

I don't think it is normal, I've used a Audio GD Master 1 preamp for over 10 years and never encountered a large jump. My S17 is now for sale cheap and I will be getting a Musician Audio or Audio GD preamp.

The review above from Audiophile Heaven closely matches my experience (as a preamp) with regards to tonality. The S17 imparts its character similarly on all files. I've recently had the Schiit Saga +, Topping pre90, Gustard H16, and some other passive and active models in the same system...
